    jsimms435's blog posts

I feel like I am starting to finally make some progress after weeks of seeing no progress in my work outs. I ran 4.8 miles this morning and did some weights. I'm thinking of doing a 5k in March. I changed my diet some also to add more protein.

This verse used as a put down

No, not really. But don't people take scripture all the time out of context to justify their own problems or weaknesses. It's like a Christian who drinks or sleeps around using the "don't judge" verse in scripture. When in reality we have to call a sin a sin.

Is cremation okay for the Christian?

I heard one man say that they could just burn him up and use the ashes for the rose bushes, but then his wife said that might cause the rose bushes to die. Lol

    Women wearing the pants!

Deut 22:5 says something about women not wearing clothing that men wear. This was the first thought that came to mind. New International Version A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. New Living Translation...

This verse used as a put down

I think the word picture here is important rather than singling out that it is dogs or pigs that is spoken of. You wouldn't throw pearls to pigs. To me, what it says that sometimes we may want to offer something to a person that they are not in a position to receive. Another word picture...

If you had one month to live...

I guess it depends on if I had good health the whole time during that month. There are a few things I would like to see such as the Grand Canyon and stuff like that. I might just travel some. I have never been on a cruise and have always wanted to do that.

iBot Poll: How small and thin do you let a bar of soap get before you replace it?

I usually use body wash in a bottle so I don't usually use bars of soap, but if I did it would be as small as possible.

Recent issues with blackface linked to Jim Crow

Many of those years did have Democrat Presidents, however between 1921 and 1932 there was Republican Presidents. The issues actually went beyond party. a black man could be killed just for not taking a step off the sidewalk when a white person walked by or if a white person made a accusation...

Recent issues with blackface linked to Jim Crow

I was recently reading a book about the migration of blacks from the south of the U.S. to the north and the west around 1917 into the 1970's. I hadn't really thought of it before, but there was a tremendous change during this time. Due to Jim Crow laws enacted in the south Blacks were treated...

Best way for US govt shutdown to end?

I don't think it is fair to use stopping other people's paychecks as leverage for bargaining regardless of what the reason is. It is unethical to do so.

State of the Union Address 2019

I didn't watch most of it. I did notice that when I did see him speak Nancy Pelosi looked like she had just swallowed some sour grapes

Paul's description of salvation "in Christ"

"This idea of being “in Christ” is arguably one of the most potent—and perplexing—aspects of Paul’s letters. Although we tend to speak of salvation as “Jesus in my heart” (a phrase used only one time in the Bible—Eph. 3:17) or as “Christ in me” (which is mentioned five times in the Bible—2 Cor...

    well it's groundhog day... again
