    United Methodist Splitting up

I'm no longer Methodist myself and haven't been for about 39 years now, but the ones who seem like they are doing well have contemporary services with more upbeat music.

    Bad decisions

Some people don't think deep down that they deserve to be happy. Other people enjoy the chaos they create.

    United Methodist Splitting up

Two of the Methodist churches near me have both left the denomination and as far as I know have become independent. Many of the congregations in my area are either leaving the denomination or talking about it

    The worst President

From what I have read Grant was a horrible President and there was a lot of corruption when he was President John Quincy Adams was not a very good President either

the purpose of the book of Judges

the text that your citing doesn't say that God "turned them into cannibals" I would completely reject that idea. They became cannibals because they copied the practices of the nations around them in their sin. It was also because of great famine that there was no food, so people resorted to...

the purpose of the book of Judges

to me it shows what man does when he does what is right in his own eyes without God's guidance. Several times it says in Judges that every man did what was right in his own eyes. The result of that is carnage and brutality. Much like the times we are living in now. Judges 21:25 ends the book...

the purpose of the book of Judges

Yes, I have read through the Old Testament over 20 times. I think I know a little about it. I brought it up as a way to discuss it.

Does your family only go to church Christmas and Easter?

Some family members don't go at all and others go all the time

the purpose of the book of Judges

I was not asking about all of the Old testament but specifcally the book of Judges. It seems like all that the Judges have in common is that they were violent, very base, simple men.

the purpose of the book of Judges

What do you think is the purpose or relevance of the book of Judges today. Seems like to me it is a very bloody book with a lot of needless killing. For example, Jephthah makes a vow that if he is successful in battle he will sacrifice the first thing that comes out of his house. This man had...

Understanding God's will in a decision

In the area that I live there are many options, maybe too many. I have been to several and have only been to one or two that I would have serious problems with doctrinally. Usually it is that I am just not interested in the style of worship or style of preaching that is offered. I think in...

No, it is a mainline Baptist denomination and not a cult

Understanding God's will in a decision

It really isn't a matter of doctrine. Though I think the average Sunday morning sermon is too shallow and is boring to me. My mind wanders off and it is a little hard to pay attention. Especially when he goes off on a tangent and repeats the same things over and over.

Understanding God's will in a decision

I am trying to make a decision about my church home and if I should stay at the church I joined before the pandemic started. A part of me feels like it is not really meeting my needs or beneficial for me to continue going there, but I am not aware of where I would go that would be better. I...

USA Donald Trump announces 2024 run for president

I'm not surprised. It will be interesting to see if he is charged with any crimes and how that might impact his candidacy. Either by the legal system in Georgia, New York or the Justice Department

    Christmas tree

We have an artifical tree. I usually put it up and then my kids or wife decorate it. I am really allergic to pine and would not be able to tolerate a real tree. It is about 7 feet tall. To tell you the truth, if it was just me I wouldn't bother putting up a tree.

    What will impact your life

I guess I'm overanalyzing the question because I am not sure what you mean by "impact". How can a person who isn't in my life still impact it in a profound way
