Did Christ die for them that are perishing ?

It's a worthwhile thought, right? scripture is graphe and Word is Logos, and sometimes logos is a reference to what Christ reveals to the faithful by the Spirit when they read or hear the scriptures. MY caution stems from having half a dozen evangelical Christians tell me that the bible is God...

Did Christ die for them that are perishing ?

Seems to me that the Greek word for "word" is logos or one of its related words, while the Greek word for "scripture" is graphe or one of its related words making the two quite distinct in the NT manuscripts. Logos is about a word spoken rather than a word written. The word in Hebrews 4:12-13...

Did Christ die for them that are perishing ?

Would I be right in reading your reply as meaning "God uses the bible and by grace through faith (a gift given to us by God because Jesus Christ is alive and active and does not return to God emptyhanded) we believe what is true (that Jesus died and we are forgiven)."?

Did Christ die for them that are perishing ?

From a Catholic dogmatic standpoint, I affirm that Christ died for all (2 Cor 5:14), but this does not entail universal salvation. The Church teaches that while the redemption is universal in sufficiency, it is not efficacious without free cooperation (CCC 606–618; Trent, Session VI, can. 17)...

The doctrine that you described is hideous.

Did Christ die for them that are perishing ?

Do you mean "The Faith is the way that God lets us know about it." as in the body of doctrine taught by Christ and believed by his church, or do you mean "A Christian's personal faith in Jesus is the way that God lets us know about it."? If you mean the former then yes I agree, if the latter...

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

Catholics know that Jesus alone saves them. His grace initiates, sustains, and completes my salvation. Even my faith, repentance, and obedience are impossible without His grace. I do not act by my own strength—any effort I make is itself a work of grace in me. I simply cooperate, like clay...

    Confession of sins

Catholics confess sins in the mass on two occasions, with these words first we say: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, And, striking their breast, they...

Pardon me for thinking that this is not a reply as much as "mailing it in" without serious interaction with what is in the post.

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

At least you think you did. ... I like that you affirm the hope of heaven and the sufficiency of Christ’s work. In the first reply that I quoted, the idea that our spirit goes to heaven immediately because we are “clothed in Christ’s righteousness in our baptisms” is certainly close to...

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

But do you believe that imperfect people here on earth die and are received into heaven as perfect people, cleansed of every fault, every sin, every inclination to sin? ... we believe that.

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

I think they seem to be missing because so many have come to pay "lip service alone" to following Jesus; because without making a really serious attempt to follow Jesus the easy way of "once saved always saved" misleads Christians.

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

I agree that we (meaning the majority of Christians) are most unlikely to forgive "all who wrong us", in the same way that Jesus forgives us (meaning all Christians), and that is a problem for us (meaning the majority of Christians) so we (meaning all Christians) depend on the mercy of God...

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

Well, it is what Jesus said, I do not think it is a transaction, but it is a call to live a life like his and that is what being saved is about, no?

Think of the unforgiving servant whose master refused to forgive him because he didn't forgive others and you'll be on the money.

Jesus will save you if you.... ???

I'd be concerned about churches that make salvation sound transactional. Catholic teaching emphasizes that salvation is God's gift through Christ, not something we earn. While I believe faith should be lived out through prayer and service, these are responses to God's grace, not payments for it.
