    No one can save themselves, but faith comes by hearing. The one thief knew and had faith in the promised Savior. The unrepentent one didn't trust in the promised Savior, thus damning himself.

    That doesn't represent accurately Jesus' laying down His life. A death needed to happen to atone for sins, we see that in the Old Testament as a foreshadowing of His death.

    Jesus never said He wasn't dying for the unrepentant thief. You're adding to scripture! The one with faith is the one Jesus guaranteed would be in paradise.

    Faith grasps onto the truth of the cross. You can't choose that. But you're saying you aren't saved if you keep sinning...and I say that you're going to keep sinning whether you realize it or not, so look to the cross and know you are forgiven.

    There is the proper distinction between Law and Gospel...both are preached by Paul because it's necessary to do so. The Law tells us to not sin...but only Jesus is sinless. You can try all you want to stop sinning, but you're going to do it and there are times when you aren't even aware that...

    We die because of original sin...Adam and Eve sinned and began the fall. Jesus reconciles us to the Father and we have life (by grace through faith), not because we try to stop sinning. You're preaching works righteousness and not Jesus or the cross.

    Paul preached the truth, that we are sinful human beings and also that we are the saints because of Christ crucified. If you're preaching that you're sinless then you deceive yourself and the truth is not in you.
