Going to church this morning and then out to lunch with my husband and daughter.

Absent fruits signal the absence of faith

My point in the OP was that we know that our faith will produce good fruit and yet a lot of people might say in order to produce more fruit we need to hear more law (do this and don't do that). My point though was that since it's because of faith that we produce that don't need to hear more law...

    Jesus Christ taught two resurrections...

Jesus will come again...just once again...and ALL will rise up on Judgment Day. Not 2 resurrections.

Communion of the Body of Christ

The Roman Catholic church wasn't the only church around that believed in the Real Presence. So to answer...NO.

Why did Christ listen to Mary?

Is it the word "Woman" that people find condescending? Or was it the fact that He didn't straight away do her bidding? We see similarities in other parts of scripture where Jesus doesn't immediately do what is asked of Him and once there is a sign of faith shown by the person requesting, He...

Absent fruits signal the absence of faith

Absent fruits signal the absence of faith. We've all heard it countless times on CH that fruits are a sign of faith. And that's true! But every time a thread on Justification or forgiveness comes up someone is bound to say "...but what about good works and fruit? Good works and bearing fruit...

    Why was Jesus baptized?

http://lutheranconfessions.blogspot.com/2012/01/why-was-jesus-baptized.html 1) By being baptized by John, Jesus witnesses to the continuity between John's ministry (and the entire prophetic tradition that preceded him) and his own ministry. 2) By being baptized by John, Jesus points forward...

    The Law cannot forgive

That was the beginning of Jesus' mission here on earth. That's why He said it. In His baptism He was baptized with our sins. In our baptism we are washed away of those sins. I started a new thread for this topic...

    The Law cannot forgive

I really don't wish for this to be another baptism thread. Baptism is God's work...it's one of His ways of delivering the work of the cross directly to us. Any wanting to be baptized comes from the Holy Spirit leading man to do it. Man's sinful self would much rather run away.

    The Law cannot forgive

There can be evidence that we are the faithful to God to show to the world... Yet, we can't rely on how WE live our lives to prove to the world that we are the faithful because even the most faithful men fall...look at King David and his adultery. He's a prime example of a good believer just...

    The Law cannot forgive

What does that have to do with my topic then of the Law cannot forgive?

    The Law cannot forgive

My response is to believe because God has given me faith. No, the Law is what we are told do and don't do by God. Love God with all your heart. You're told to do that. Have no other gods before me. You're told not to believe in other gods. Both Law. Both things we cannot do perfectly. What...

    The Law cannot forgive

I stand by what I say. The Law cannot forgive. (the Law is what we do and don't do...Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself as well as the 10 commandments all summed up by the first commandment) If we're talking about eternal life we need forgiveness and the Law cannot...

    The Law cannot forgive

The Gospel never asks us to do...it always tells us what God does. You have confused Law and Gospel. The Law is what we are to do and not do. Jesus says go and do likewise, that's not Gospel. It's Law. Can it forgive you? No.
