    God doesn't need our permission. We read our bibles...because God leads us to do that. We do good works...because God leads us to do that. We love our neighbor...because God leads us to do that. God is growing our spirit, our lives have Him active in it.

    That's how you should have just started here in this thread :) But that's not the point of this thread, and I keep trying to tell you that. And, I do believe that we do things for God, but it doesn't contribute to our salvation. God repents us. Have you heard that saying?

    The word of God is alive and active and does not return to Him empty. It's the job of the Holy Spirit to guide you into truth, so yes, God is growing your spirit. We aren't alone as believers, we have the Holy Spirit within us!

    To believe that you have to do something for your salvation means you believe in faith plus works. I believe that it's not our works that save us or contribute, because scripture says that salvation is Jesus' work and we receive it by grace through faith.
