When was Satan created and does it effect the length of days in Genesis 1

Sorry, I have no use for numerology. I read the Bible for meaning and over the decades I have found that meaning to be far less literal than most Christians are prepared to understand. That's OK, it is a slow process and one that some never come to.

If a business owner doesn't have your values do you visit their establishment?

This might not be directly on topic but it does sort of relate. President Trump has initiated a trade war that will hurt my country --- Canada. Until this issue is resolved I will do my best not to buy anything "made in the USA".

When was Satan created and does it effect the length of days in Genesis 1

A literal understanding of the Bible is certainly full of problems isn't it?

When was Satan created and does it effect the length of days in Genesis 1

God didn't create Satan, man did. Satan (ha'shaitan) occurs by name in the Old Testament in the Book of Job, and here it's clear that the angel Satan is not the Devil! The Devil is supposedly banished from the presence of God, yet in Job, Satan is allowed to talk with and to come and go from...

    Chat Do You Remember?

I remember seeing my first electronic calculator. It was basic four function plus square and cube roots. It was the size of a big city telephone book and cost $4000 in 1965 dollars. Today the same calculator is the size of a credit card and is a give away. BTW I remember crank type wall phones.

Is the Account of Adam and Eve LITERAL?

A very great deal of scripture is wide open to interpretation. As a Christian of over 70 years and also a retired scientist, I have no problem in regarding Genesis as allegorical. I do not read the Genesis myth as a fall from an original state of perfection into sin and death. The first couple...

    Chat Do You Remember?

I recall seeing my first electronic calculator about 1966. It was a WANG and about the same size as my home printer. It cost $4000 and was basically a four function calculator. The first hand held scientific model calculator that I ever saw cost $600. Today you can buy one in the dollar store.

Pope Francis on the topic of Hell

Good for the Pope! I 've thought the same for decades.

    Biblical concept of original sin

I do not read the Genesis myth as a fall from an original state of perfection into sin and death. The first couple were completely innocent and naive creatures. They were certainly capable of making a mistake but, without knowing good from evil, they lacked even the ability to sin. That ability...

Who sits on the left and right hand?

Who sits on the left and right hand? Messiah means literally "anointed one" and was the common way in which the Jews referred to kings of the dynasty of David. "Anointed" refers of course to the method of investiture of the Jewish kings. It translated into the Greek as "Christos". The Jews...

Why do some Christians believe Hell is an invention?

It is worthwhile noting that "hell" never occurs in the Bible, not even once, not ever. Hell is a translator's word that is used in place of three concepts --- Sheole, Ghenna and Hades. None of these three are equivalent to hell. The true architect of hell is the Italian poet Dante in his...

New Asteroid Study Suggests Hollywood Is Wrong About Ocean Impacts

Very interesting. However, I suspect that the disruptions caused to the tectonic plates by such impacts would cause massive earthquakes with their resulting tsunamis The waves might not be immediate but could last for a very long time after first impact.

How do you brew that perfect cup of coffee?

I will only drink one or at most two cups of coffee a day and a traditional coffee maker was becoming just too much. One of my daughters put me on to a 'French press' coffee maker. Ideal for one or two cups and actually a richer better tasting coffee using the same grind.
