If your family were threatened by drug dealers in Mexico, the instinct would probably be to flee. I work with immigrants, and 'blame the victim' is not the solution to everything. This does not excuse crossing borders without the proper papers, but it does not start there.
These days, even the non-European Union spouses of British people can't live in Britain with their British husband or wife unless they meet earnings criteria. It's unjust, in my view, that you who contributed to Britain's defence as an ally, should be passed over in favor of otherwise worthy...
So I would not argue that the thing in itself has spiritual value; it's just the many Christians use a faith based tattoo, whether a Bible verse or ref., etc., as one of various means to witness. It's more of a means to an end. A matter of pragmatism, really.
From a pragmatic point of view, a faith based design is a proven as a means to start conversations. Even if the thing in itself does not bring blessing, many Christians seem to feel that pragmatically it works in witness situations.
Moral change in the US and Canada, and a cessation of the lust for illegal drugs which hugely disrupt Latin American countries would improve the situation immensely and take away the lucrative trade of drug dealers in places like Mexico. If one's family is being threatened in Mexico, the...
