I have a mentor that stresses the difficulty people have in staying in the middle of the road. At one extreme, we can neglect the environment that we have been given, and at the opposite extreme we have those that fail to heed the warning of Romans 1 and worship the creation rather than the...
Nor does the WORD OF GOD:
[Exo 12:40-41 NASB20] 40 Now the time that the sons of Israel had lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 And at the end of 430 years, on this very day, all the multitudes of the LORD departed from the land of Egypt.
[LXX] 12:40 ἡ δὲ κατοίκησις τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἣν κατῴκησαν...
Why are you posting in English? The Early Church relied exclusively on Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin. If you REALLY care nothing about the scholars that translated the Bible into English, then you should also stick with Greek and Latin like the ECFs.
I am fluent in English, so the...
You specifically asked for clarification on “what overwhelming consensus” I was talking about, so I provided the requested clarification. The writings of the “early church” and the “Septuagint“ were known to these teams of linguistic scholars … and they still chose “430 years” when translating...
All of the teams of linguistic scholars that translated EVERY Bible Translation into English for the last 500 years and wrote 430 years instead of 213 years. (KJV, NKJV, ASV, RSV, DBY, NIV, ESV, NASB, CSB, WEB, etc.)
Actually, God says no such thing. Quote the verse.
The 430 years are the 430 years in Egypt. Jacob leaving Canan marked the end of the “promise” of Abraham (for the people) and the start of their living under “bondage”. It is a symbolic break from the promise of Abraham (and faith) which...
Are you really striving to demonstrate that the Greek in the NT is closer to being word for word to the Greek OT than to the Hebrew OT?
Isn’t that to be expected since both are in “Greek”. I bet comparing the KJV with the ESV will show them to be closer to “word for word” than comparing them...
Then we should avoid the terms “verbatim” and “word for word” wherever they are inappropriate, and stick to making TRUE statements about scripture.
Not all Gospel accounts of the words of Jesus are “verbatim”.
“Verbatim” (word for word) is NOT the same as “paraphrasing”.
One indicates a direct source for the words, the other indicates a common source for the concept.

I developed walking pneumonia (double = both lungs) that went sepsis (infection spread to other organs that started to shut down). So I drove myself to the ER with the complaint that I could not catch my breath (although I was having trouble speaking words). They placed large IV needles in...
So many questions …
Why is the net evil?
It is a metaphor. As the fish had no choice in the decision to be caught in the net or not to be caught in the net, men have no choice and are often caught up in evil circumstances that trap them.
I am living this reality right now. I did not choose...

Genesis 7:1-5
1 Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. 2 You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean...
I was born into atheism, so I made my own decisions based on what I read in the Bible … it turns out those decisions had a name called “Particular Baptist”. Apparently, I was not the first person to actually read what God wrote and believe it. 😉
“In Revelation 7, the 144,000 are seen at the beginning of the Great Tribulation. In Revelation 14, it shows them in triumph at the end of the Great Tribulation.”
