Yes, my pastor said that Job was historical but how much of the writing is word for word vs using creative and poetic flourish, nobody knows. But the writings are inspired by God.

I could buy that it is a play of sorts based on a real person using poetic license.

What is the Lutheran belief on Job? I’m reading it now. Do Lutherans believe Job was a real person? Do Lutherans believe that all the long winded speeches Job and the others said we’re actual, word for word what these men said?

I think the Lotus flower is pretty and had one on my Facebook page cover. But then I started thinking about how the Lotus is associated with Easten religions. Is it wrong to display the Lotus on fb, or on a permanent tattoo or other ways?

I don’t mind speculation and in the case of my OP I wanted suggestions, but there’s a difference between speculation and acting like you have a definitive answer for everything. You know….”look it up in the catechism.” And more times than not the catechism didn’t answer my question, anyway.

Yeah, it seemed to me, at least, that in Catholicism they had to have an answer for everything. But I’ve noticed my pastor sometimes saying “I don’t know”.

It might not be an official Lutheran view but it makes most sense to me. Can a LCMS member hold to this view?

About Elijah and Enoch, are they floating around in space or WHAT? And where/what is heaven, other than Gods dwelling place? Like is it another dimension or realm or what?

Where is Heaven? | St. Mark Ministries i don’t know what kind of Lutheran church this is, but they seem to answer my question. EDIT: oh it’s WELS. Is that similar to LCMS? To my knowledge we don’t have WELS here, where I live.

Seriously, where have you been coming up with some of the claims you’ve made?

My pastor said that Enoch and Elijah are where everybody else who’s died are….so is heaven in another dimension? As far as the chariot, he said that it’s supernatural. But isn’t that a little fantastical?

Where does the LCMS teach that Enoch, Elijah and the chariot are? Floating around in space or what? And how could an earthly made thing like a chariot fly off into the sky? Only LCMS answers please.
