Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Even if you were correct that does nothing to change what I said.
  2. Origen

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Nothing dishonest about it. The fact is some church fathers believe them to be Scripture and others did not.

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

I didn't claim anything in that post. I ask for him to support his claim with evidence from primary sources just as I did with you. The fact is some church fathers believe them to be Scripture and others did not.

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

I never made any claims. Your point is irrelevant. Since I never said there was, your point is irrelevant. I never brought up Josephus here. Which changed nothing because others church fathers did not agree and the debate continued. Absolutely zero evidence for such a claim. It is nothing...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

The only thing to get straight is whether you are able to support your claims. Let's remind everyone what you claimed. You stated: Can you cite one source from before the time of Christ which states Maccabees is Scripture as you claimed? Can you provide manuscript evidence from before the...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

I made no claim whatsoever but you did. The burden of proof is in on you and you alone to support YOUR claims. Can you cite one source from before the time of Christ which states Maccabees is Scripture as you claimed? Can you provide manuscript evidence from before the time of Christ proving...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Never said it was. Never said it did. Never said it wasn't. Your turn! Can you cite one source from before the time of Christ which states Maccabees is Scripture as you claimed? Can you provide manuscript evidence from before the time of Christ proving it was part of the original LXX or a...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Thank you for admitting that. I respect that. We do, but I have no evidence one way or the other what he believed on the matter. And unless you have some solid evidence, anything you claim will be pure speculation. However I do know Aquila was not the only one. There were several...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Unless they provide primary sources to support your claims, I find no reason to accept their claims. You stated: Can you cite one source from before the time of Christ which states Maccabees is Scripture? You also stated: Can you provide manuscript evidence from before the time of Christ...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

I would like to see that as well. Please cite one source from before the time of Christ which states Maccabees is Scripture. Please provide manuscript evidence from before the time of Christ proving it was part of the original LXX or a source from before the time of Christ which states it was...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

You claimed to have knowledge of an event. You stated: "The Jews made the first and ONLY canon of scripture in response to Christianity in the 1rst Century, that was their cut off". If such an event occurred as you have claimed concerning the canon, then there ought to be 1st or 2nd century...

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

I was wondering that myself. He clearly states in post 73: Then in post 76 I asked for him to provide 1st century primary sources to support that point but none have been given.
  13. Origen

Did Jesus celebrate the Holiday that commemorates the Maccabees?

Please cite the 1st Century primary source for that information. Primary sources are "documents, images, or artifacts that provide firsthand testimony or direct evidence concerning an historical topic under research investigation."

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

Your example is an over simplification of what has been said and does not accurately reflect my comments. I have stated more than once that Gideon knew something was up, something was different. But I have also pointed out more than once that is not the same thing as knowing. No one says to...

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

Exactly!!! Asking for a sign shows that Gideon was not sure, that he did not know. It makes no sense to ask for proof if Gideon already knew it was the angel of the Lord. Moreover it makes no sense for Gideon to address the angel of the LORD as "Lord" if Gideon indeed knew it was the LORD.
  16. Origen

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

I never said he was. In fact I repeatedly use the moniker "angel of the LORD."
  17. Origen

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

You asked: "How exactly was Gideon entertaining the angel?" I cited the information in the text concerning what Gideon did. Gideon (1) requested that he not leave, (2) he told him he was going give his "present and set it before you," in other words served him, and then, (3) Gideon prepared...

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

Now I am shocked. "Please do not depart from here until I come to you and bring out my present and set it before you.” And he said, “I will stay till you return.” So Gideon went into his house and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes from an ehah of flour. The meat he put in a basket...

Who entertained angels unaware, as stated in Hebrews 13:2?

No Gideon did not directly ask, but on the other hand the text never directly states he did know either. Again, Gideon merely being aware something was possible is hardly the same thing knowing. Also the text never says he knew it was the angel of the Lord until verse 22 where is states...
