    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Wouldn't the Apocryphal books have been added after the 72 translators had died? Ptolemy II was around 250 BC. But the Maccabees lived around 160 BC. Surely you don't think these 72 scholars added Maccabees 100 years later. Wouldn't someone later have done the work?

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Ah! Ok. And where does it say that only Levites can translate the Bible? I'm pretty sure most of our Bibles today were not translated by Levites.

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Where does it say that only Levites can translate the scriptures into a foreign language? I'm not seeing that. This really concerns me because I'm pretty sure that the 50 translators of my King James Bible were not Levites. Can you show me the exact verse and explain it?

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

So the author of Psalms is a Levite now? I thought David was from Judah. The author of Romans and Corinthians is a Levite now? I thought Paul was of Benjamin? Where is the verse that says only Levites can write or copy scripture?

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

The Jews were the ones who included those books in the Greek Septuagint. That's why the earliest Christians considered them to be scripture. It wasn't until AFTER Christ that the UNbelieving Jews took those books out. Then in the 4th century some Christians also got duped BY the Jews that those...

Josiah, notice how it says MDLX. That's Roman numerals for 1560. That's the year it was printed. And this is an exact photocopy replica of it. They went through 24 different original 1560 Geneva Bibles before they could find ones that were in good enough condition to have them photocopied. The...

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Exactly. And for the longest time, I could never figure out what Paul was talking about. Why? Because I had never read the book of Maccabees. Why? Because people told me that it's not scripture, so I never bothered reading it. See the problem there?

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Everything else that the author of Hebrews mentions in chapter 11 is found in scripture. The context implies that the events mentioned in verse 35 are also scripture. Early Church fathers considered Maccabees to be scripture because they used the Septuagint, which contained Maccabees. They...

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

I don't think there was any gap. I think that the unbelieving Jews wanted to say that scripture stops with Ezra so that they could discredit all scripture that came after, including the New Testament. There was no gap of silence. Just Jewish conspiracy to corrupt scripture.

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Are you seriously trying to tell me that even though every single verse in Hebrews 11 is talking about some event in Hebrew Old Testament scripture, nonetheless, this one single verse, verse 35, where it talks about men being tortured not accepting deliverance...this one verse is talking about...

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Again, another lie. Not every scholar is in agrement. Clearly the scholars who translated the KJV beleived Paul was the author. Many church fathers beleived that Paul was the author. Others today beleive that Luke is the author because some of Luke's writing style is found in Hebrews. The most...

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

Dude, what the heck are you talking about? Nobody ever claimed that the Geneva Bible has taken anything FROM the KJV. I've said it 3 times already. Nobody ever claimed that. And yes, the verse separations were introduced with the Geneva Bible. It has verse divisions. Go to a Bible museum and...

    Did Jesus quote the Apocrypha?

The best scholars in all of England were convinced that Paul wrote it. But I guess you know better than them. So, if Paul mentions the events in 2 Maccabees right along the rest of Old Testament history, then could it be that when Paul said to Timothy "all scripture is God-breathed" that he...
