What if Modern Christianity is just the other end of the telephone?

That’s an illogical conclusion. The Holy Spirit’s ability to lead is not the same thing as man’s willingness to obey and follow.

Catholic Church definition of the canonical scriptures.

Catholic is a Latin word that means Universal. Since the early church fathers spoke Latin, they meant Universal.

    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

Why are you worried about 2 Maccabees having authority? It doesn’t teach Purgatory. That’s just Catholic misinterpretation. Any false doctrine that Catholics base on the Apocrypha is just misinterpretation of what the Apocrypha actually says.

I disagree. Hebrews is not just referencing a bunch of historical events. Hebrews is mentioning a bunch of BIBLICAL historical events. Saying that verse 35 is referencing “just history” is pulling right out of its context.

I disagree. I think Hebrews 11 shows that to be true. Of course, backing that up is the multiple early church councils.

Catholic Church definition of the canonical scriptures.

Josephus was given the Hebrew scrolls from the temple. Yet Josephus agrees with the Greek Septuagint’s version of Esther, not the Hebrew Masoretic’s. Read it. Josephus says Esther was married to Artaxerxes, not Ahasuerus. That’s what the Greek says. Other parts of the story (as given by...

You haven’t provided any evidence to substantiate that claim. That claim needs facts and evidence for it to be substantiated with the evidence that could substantiate it.

What if Modern Christianity is just the other end of the telephone?

Have you ever played the telephone game? [emoji338] We played it in church youth groups a lot. The way it goes is: One person whispers a sentence or phrase into another’s ear. Then that person whispers it in the next person’s ear, then the next and the next on down the line. Finally, it...

I disagree with that. I don’t think it’s the tiniest leap at all. I think that any educated child in junior high who simply reads Hebrews 11 is going to come away from the chapter thinking that the author of Hebrews was referencing the many biblical figures throughout biblical history that are...

Why do you think the Bible says that tattoos are wrong?

But if you’re walking in the spirit, you won’t indulge in the lusts of the flesh. The law is still there as a moral guide. If you’re stealing, murdering and deceiving people, then you’re probably walking according to the flesh. So if you’re getting tattoos, wouldn’t that also be an immoral work...

The Greek Daniel and Esther preserve the original Hebrew. Josephus proves that.

I think that this fact combined with listening to David Bercot’s 2-hour audio teaching on the Apocrypha is more than enough evidence. I’m convinced. Hour 1: Hour 2:

    A P O C R Y P H A : Included in every Holy Bible from the 4th century AD to the 19th Century AD

Your conclusion doesn’t make any sense to me. All my life as a Christian, whenever I would read Hebrews 11:35, I always got the impression from the context of the chapter that the story of the men being tortured not accepting deliverance, that that story comes from Biblical history. I’ve ALWAYS...

Huh???? We haven’t shown the work that led us to our conclusions? Uh, on which points? I’ve made the point that Hebrews 11:35 is referencing 2 Maccabees 7. What led me to this conclusion? Well, I read a marginal note in the original printing of the KJV where in Hebrews 11:35 the marginal note...

Did Jesus descend into Hell when he died on the cross?

Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
 He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
 was crucified, died, and was buried;
 he descended to...

"Apocrypha" & The Gospel: Comparison Study #01

Most Christians I know are aware that the “Apocryphal” books are the extra books that Catholics authored and added to the Bible in the 1500’s. But most of the Christians I know are not well versed in these books, and are unaware that Maccabees is actually real Jewish history from before the...
