Have any of you ever been on a cruise? Which line were you on and did you enjoy it?

I was on the Goodtime 111 a few summers ago. I enjoyed it.

Yep when I was younger. Can't remember what it was called. I went with my family, grandparents, cousins and aunt. It was a BLAST! :happy-run2: I would love to go on another one again with the hubby. :D Even tho he probably wouldn't like it and would stay in the room the whole time. I would have the time of my life.

Many years ago I did a Norwegian Coastal Cruise on the MS Finnmarken. That was a lovely time but the average age of the passengers was older than my parents. I also did a transatlantic cruise with Cunard on the Queen Elizabeth, which was simply amazing. It was like staying in a floating five-star hotel for a week.

I went on a cruise with a group of friends and it was an amazing time...but not because it was a cruise since we were with fun friends. I would like to take my daughter on a cruise because she and I have a lot of fun together and she wouldn't want to sit around at a bar drinking most of the time.

The food was great, but the scheduled activities seemed a lot like work, some of the older passengers were kind of bossy, and for some reason there were no women on the cruises.

I had a conference on a cruise ship. It was a 3 day Mexico thing. Even with several hours a day of meetings, it was BORING. B....O.....R.....I......N........G. Unless one gambles all day or drinks all day, it's BORING. After I checked out the ship (which took an hour, max) there was NOTHING to do - but sit by the pool or use the fitness center (which I can do at home). The entertainment (and I use that term very loosely) was little and very amature, not worth the time attending it. I did have time to drink (too much) and talk with associates - because we were forced to by the lack of anything else to do. The ONLY good thing: I didn't pay for it.

Aww! I think that's why it's great to go with a group of friends to keep busy. I didn't get bored on the only cruise I went on (well, except for a 3 hour one once LOL that doesn't count as a vacation cruise) because I went off separately with members of our group and we just talked and laughed and had a great time exploring our ship. And of course the EATING is so much fun!

I nominate this for the "funny post of the month" award....

Actually, YOUR cruise sounds a LOT more interesting and enjoyable than mine... I'd love to spend a day (that's ONE day, 24 hours... no more) on that cruise - but ONLY, EXCLUSIVELY as an observing guest.

Mine was on Carnival. The food was super ABUNDANT but the quality was pretty unimpressive and quite ordinary (think: College cafeteria). On the "formal" night, there was New York steak (a big one at that) but it was pretty tasteless and tough and cold... the bake potato I ordered was so cold the butter would not melt. Oh, and this was a MEXICAN cruise and there was NOTHING Mexican served or offered at all, all very generic stuff. The desserts were the thing people talked about, but I'm not much of a dessert person. I had heard so much about the food but I wasn't at all impressed. Perhaps just the cruise I experienced..... I know folks who love cruises!

My cruise was a Carnival one as well and everything I ate except for one thing was super tasty!! You must have had some bad cooks and I got all the good ones.

The thing I didn't like was the annoying Caribbean music constantly being played by the pool. I mean. CONSTANTLY. I wanted to sit out there and enjoy the weather but the music was way too loud and the same old thing on repeat.

I had always thought I would like to take a cruise but after seeing all of those sickness outbreaks I'm very Leary. You know I used to do building maintenance at a four star hotel and I know how many rooms they give those cleaners to complete in a shift and it's ridiculous. You're lucky when all of the main items in a room get cleaned but you can absolutely know all of the other 'touch' points don't get sanitized.

When I did the Norwegian cruise with my wife I was glad for a small number of other young couples. We met a French couple, another couple where the husband was German and the wife was Italian, and another couple from Australia but who oddly grew up about 10 miles from where I grew up. It was good to have people to hang out with once the sun went down because otherwise there wasn't a whole lot to do. The scenery by day was stunning and I think we did every single land excursion on offer, which was equally sunny. I remember walking up the side of a mountain in Narvik in temperatures way below freezing, and using the outdoor jacuzzi north of the Arctic Circle in October. That was interesting.
