The book of revelations is not read by many so many are not aware of the end from the beginning. And overcoming of the devil, world or flesh isn't a popular teaching either. Teachers and preachers that know better don't practise telling the complete truth but give way to political correctness of the Laodocean way instead.

That is why people need to read the scriptures for themselves.The promise is that the Holy Ghost will lead us into all of the truth.

Is God not in control of creation?

Yes, God in in control.

Romans 8:28-30 [NKJV] And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Do you think you're in a war between good and evil. A battle between the darkness and light or "the dark side" and "the light side"? Is that a Christian way of looking at your experiences and the world?

Yes.

Deuteronomy 30:19 [NKJV] I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

John 3:18-21 [NKJV] “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Ephesians 6:10-13 [NKJV] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

In Revelation (Catholics have usually called the book The Apocalypse) There is a battle between Michael and his angels and The Dragon and his angels and at the end of the book there is a battle of the nations against the City of God - in both cases God's servants win and their victory is never in any doubt.
