They kicked someone out of his house here. Guess he didn't pay rent. Normally they throw the stuff outside, they had really good furniture. They just throw everything away. It gets more antisocial every day.
Old friend of my ex couldnt pay rent for a few months, years ago. They just kicked him out of his house but they threw the stuff on the street, they didnt just throw it away. We had him in our house a while. He hadnt talked to him in years and that day God said: call him.
I cant take the neighbours in my house or they kick us out. They werent even there. Dont even know who it were. That there is just noone to help em, put their stuff somewhere, is unbelievable. What a jerkish antisocial country.
We're as social as rats.
I complained a lot lately about living with 3 kids in a 1 person apt with complain neighbours threatening to kick you out if you roll a ball on the floor, but I listened to that song yesterday: be grateful cause theres someone else whod love to be in your shoes. So I thanked the Lord for this house.
If it was a woman I could take her in. Or if they just put it on the street I'd offer to stall some stuff here. They do that with families with kids too. I told an American on cf that they kick people in prison if they dont pay their debts. He was flabbergasted. A guy in church had that. 90000 debt. one day and he could go to prison. the money is fake anyway from banks. we prayed. noone could give him that money. bam debt was gone. they couldnt find it anymore.
Praying for you, Rens, and praying for us.
Lord, help us both be strong in the Lord.
Help us to see the best solution, your will, Father,
for our situation, and for eveyone involved.
For Holland, for America.
Lord, thank you for Rens. :hug2:

Please bless and help that person that was evicted.
We don't know them, but you do, Lord Jesus,
be their Saviour and do your mighty work in their life.
Bring Your Word of salvation to them, we pray for them,
Lord, that you open their heart to receive your salvation.

Thank you, Jesus, and thank you that you have Rens there,
'holding down the fort' as it were. Please grant her your strength,
wisdom, and peace, and bring the necessary changes to make the
living situation for her and the boys more stable and free from strife.
Thank you, Lord, for the things we do have, and most importantly,
that you are with us always. Thank you, Lord, for all your love,
In Jesus' wonderful name. Amen.

And Lord, please bless the reader, anyone going through
difficult situations, Lord, please let your presence be known to them,
let them know you love them and will never leave them or forsake them.
Love them and meet their needs as only you can, Lord, for your glory
we give you all the thanks and praise in Jesus' name. Amen.

Aw, that's sad that they have done that. Do you get an eviction notice? In most states here an eviction process has to be done and that includes a notice so it's not a surprise.

Yes I think so. But that there's not even a family member who says: hey let me put your stuff in my garage or rent a box. Don't they have anybody? That guy we helped had noone. That's quite sad. He hadn't talked to him in more than 10 years and the guy went to a church. Great helpful people in churches not.

I'm waiting for my new coffee pot to finish brewing. It's nothing special but has a great feature the old one lacks. It still works.

You get the notice but if it's as little as 10 days between the notice and the court process kicking off that's not much time to figure things out, especially if you're working.

But if you haven't paid your rent, isn't it expected that you'd get kicked out soon anyway? When my husband and I moved and rented an apartment for a couple months, we made sure we were early with our rent so our credit rating wouldn't get destroyed. I walked it down to the office as I went to get my free morning bagel ;) That was the best part about that place was the free bagels week day mornings! mmmm

Yes, but it was so weird that they also threw their stuff away. I asked my ex. He said you can choose if they store it for you, but that costs something. Apparently they had no money at all.

That has to be so difficult in a small space even if it is just a few days a week. My kids were 5 and 10 years apart, raised them on my own too. Never an easy job. The housing around here is precarious at best so it's everyone's fear of being evicted too. In fact I was once for some stupid reason but managed to have gvmnt ombudsman step in to prevent eviction so now I'm extra cautious. All my naughtyness is after hours ;).

Sure, it's just that if you do hit one of life's wrinkles it's a bit alarming that you could get a notice to quit and within less than two weeks be facing court action, with the sheriff ready to physically remove your stuff into storage. Of course if you don't pay your rent you can't expect to stay for long, it's just remarkably fast to try and turn things around if you're in the kind of situation where you can pay if you're given a little time.

In at least some states the eviction action is automatically cancelled if you pay the overdue rent and applicable court fees into the court, it just doesn't help someone trying to get their budget back on track if they are suddenly faced with mounting bills because of something else.

As with everything else it's hard to balance the rights of the landlord who doesn't want a freeloader living in his house, with the rights of the tenant who doesn't want to be thrown out in the cold when they could get all caught up if given a little slack.

I've never heard of a proper eviction taking 2 weeks (in the US)...they're usually a lot longer. A month to 3 months. People tend to become squatters and then seemed shocked when the sheriff comes to physically remove them. It's not as if it's a surprise. If you aren't paying rent then you're basically stealing from someone else.

The sheriff? Those still exist? I thought that was only in cowboy movies.

They're real :) My area has one! I see his car as I speed past in mine and then look in my rear view mirror to make sure he doesn't turn around to get me! LOL oops.

If you are evicted for non-payment of rent the standard notice period in PA is 10 days. After that the landlord can file a motion in court to have you physically removed. I don't know how long it takes for the court to deal with it all and grant a possession order but the initiation of it all can be very fast.

I agree that if you aren't paying rent you're basically stealing but at the same time there's a big difference between someone who just feels like freeloading, and someone whose budget was knocked into next month by unexpected and unavoidable expenses (and I don't mean the decision to buy a new iPhone!) who just wants to get back on their feet but needs a little time to do it. If you've got the sort of situation where you pay this month's rent three weeks late, then next month's two weeks late, then one week late, then get back on track paying on time every month, it's a shame if along the way you find yourself living on the street.

One would hope a good landlord would realise that you were a good tenant and give you a little breathing space, but ultimately it's in their hands rather than the tenant's.

Here is a link that shows a chart of the eviction process in the Chicagoland area (from 2011) http://chicagoeviction.com/2011/08/...best-case-scenario-chicago-eviction-timeline/

The tenant could be in their apartment from 85 to 122 days after the first notice. That's such a long time for a landlord to not have payment. Edited to add the sheriff's dept. has sped up the process since then (although I've heard that's not always the case because they're so backed up!!).
