Marriage more difficult today?

If my husband ever said what your dad said my reply would be, "Well, then let them have you." I don't put up with comments like that since they're purposely condescending.

Wow you TOTALLY missed it, Lämm. My Dad paid the highest compliment to my mom, hes been married 67 years , to the same woman! (Meaning unlike other guys these days who boast theyve been married 30 years ... to 3 different women)

And the re-quote about rofl was the MOM laffing if Rens' Dad or my Dad ever said they were going for another woman.
Both our Dads are faithful sweethearts, Lämm, you completely got the point backwards. My Dad has been a one woman man his whole life. Loves my Mom dearly, and I was saying if I was ever blessed to be married, I have that same desire and intention, and example from him. One love. One marriage. My Dad's a great guy, Lämm, you'll like him.

I was referring to what Rens' dad had said, "My, everyone gets a nice new wife every few years and I'm still stuck with your grandma my whole life and she's mean to me. I want sumthin else too for a change."

My comment was about mutual respect and I know some couples can tease and adjust to it but I prefer not to have a spouse make rude comments. That's me. I don't talk to my husband like that and I expect him to treat me with the same respect. He does.

You quoted my post, though, not Rens, that's why I replied that way when you quoted my post and then said 'If my husband ever said that...' and I felt it right to point out that wasn't my dad or my post.

But either way, Rens Mom and Dad are really great, they kid with each other like that, as do my folks, and that laffter and good cheer is what helps keep love alive and the marriage forever.

Thats what I want in my life, and Im sure Rens does too, (dont we all?) and the frustration over that lacking lately just adds to the frustration of miles and time.

Her folks are great and so are mine. Very faithful, ppl of good cheer, despite a hard life, harder than some of todays married young'uns, still very loving, and very easy to love.

It really shouldn't be toyed with by unlearned amateurs, though.
It comes across more like snarkassm, than sarcasm, especially in a written format, no vocal tones.
