Hello--

I was wondering if anybody journals in here. I don't like journaling, but one day a couple years ago while reading the bible the Lord said 'take notes'.
Well I started out writing certain scriptures down I thought would be useful to look back on but just ended up with a compilation of many verses over several pages which the whole thing dropped by the wayside.
I never did 'diaries' when I was younger either.
Now I am wondering what kind of notes I should be taking. Plus, they say the enemy cant read your mind, then why should he see it on paper? I just don't really get it. But maybe if I started then I would get it.
But anyway, He said take notes. So advice and suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

I used to do that. Just paint the important parts til the whole N.T. was painted and it was no use anymore and I'd write it down if God said something.
Who cares if the devil sees it?

I used to take notes on things that I saw connections to the last time I read the bible from cover to cover. There were things that I would note that seemed to correspond from old testament to new and also what revealed the Savior.

Are you going to take notes by hand or type them out in a word processing program?

That's cool that you received instructions to 'take notes'. I try to get the widest margin bibles that I can and fill them with notes. I've given some to second hand stores filled with notes too that I wish I would have kept. It makes for great references when you want to look something up. Easy to find when you know the scripture.

Welcome to the forum Lily. God bless!!!

I take notes all the time. I would not call it journaling though. I use to journal but fell out of the habit or need. But taking notes for reference helps cement the thoughts or scriptures in your head.

I don't leave notes in most of my bibles because I read a new one every year and the notes would end up being forgotten but I do put notes in the large print New World Translation that a Jehovah's Witness elder gave to me. The notes are usually corrections in the translation and occasional observations about how their bible differs from other 66 book bibles.

Thankyou for your responses. I guess I am going to have to 'wing it' and see if something in particular develops.
I know when I did it the last time I also wrote down questions I had.
Perhaps if something really stands out at me because it pertains to me I should write about it. Come think of it, I think that was a suggestion from a church I was previously at. Maybe it helps 'cement' the new character trait your supposed to exhibit. -Hey, I think I like that.

Are you doing specific readings from the bible or are you doing random ones? :)

I jump around the bible all over. I have been doing 'in depth' studies on the gospels from bob deffinbaugh on bible.org.
But so far I have written out some questions to investigate from Isaiah, and an edifying scripture.
I dont type any of this out. I also do highlight some things in my bible.

Does your bible have a concordance?

I was reading what you wrote and immediately thought that God wanted you to take notes because he wants the devil to see you do not belong to him. Do you see that too?
