Everybody needs to be where they will learn the most. If for some that's controversial material then so be it. What we let influence us is reflected in what we have become and the direction in which we're going. The art is nothing less than working out our own salvation in fear and trembling. Maturity I would suspect comes from being able to cope within that sphere.
Cope?
I think I heard of that once.
It's funny, but it seems invariable that I'll have a book or an author I'm getting some good stuff from, and something will come up, either on the net, in a forum, from a friend, something, that casts doubt or warnings about said book/author. It's almost a guarantee. I've got books as well as hundreds of cassette tapes, (you old enough to remember them?)

A sampling (by memory, I'm not home to view my library) many things by folks in no particular order, like:

John MacArthur, Ravi Zacharius, John Piper, David Jeremiah, RC Sproul (which, I only very recently realized the irony, that he goes by 'RC' lol), Charles Stanley, Chuck Smith and many other Calvary Chapel folks, Wayne Monbleau, Michael Youssef, Dave Hunt, many more, but I'll no sooner start reading or listening to one of them, and then I'll hear or read, 'Eww, HIM?? Stay away, no good, bad teaching, heresy', lol, etc. It'll just pop up, happens all the time.
I try to stick mostly to God's Word. (Then again, what other book do hear, 'Stay away, no good', etc., about, moreso, ... than the Bible?! :=D: )

What I hear "help I'm tossed about by every wave" Confidence is in God nothing else. I haven't heard of most of those authors so can't comment. Maybe spend some time in prayer and don't be so concerned with what others are doing. That's why I do word studies.

Nooo, you misunderstand, ...lol .... I'm actually someone who's often trying to warn OTHERS about being tossed about by every wind of doctrine, and the deceptive nonsense that masquerades as christian light.

No, I was just pointing out the 'coincidence' of getting a book or a teaching tape, and suddenly I'll be hearing all sorts of detrimental things about the person that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

But, don't you read christian authors at all, or listen to radio teaching?
Even the commentaries or word studies are generally authored by somebody.

I'm grateful for the many great men, and ladies, who've gone before, that painstakingly poured their lifes work into study and preaching/teaching/writing that helps a dimwit like me when mining for gold. And just having books by someone doesn't mean I'm on a search for their secrets, I've read and seen videos by some real strange and even heretical teachers, on youtube and even right on 'christian' chatforums, but it doesn't meean I follow their teaching.
(I must admit, I'm a bit surprised if you haven't heard of Charles Stanley or David Jeremiah or the Calvary Chapel folks.) :friends:

It's really the One we're praying TO that makes the difference. God is good. I like your saying under your name, if I haven't said before, I meant to.
Of course, when it says that, then it's hard to say youre down .... Some wiseguy will tell you 'Dont grumble, give a whistle ... ' :=D:
(When life seems jolly-rotten ... there's something you've forgotten... ) Ok, ok, I'll stop.
And I guess I shouldnt have my current saying up there, either.
How can I be disheartened over love, when the love of God was given to us as a gift in Jesus Christ? But I still can't help being down, I'm only human, just a sinner saved by grace, and barely hanging on right now. Anyways, glad you're doing better today, ~Jo~ . :)

Hi Jo. Are you ready for the weekend? I don't have plans because we might get some bad weather again.

Only plans we have is a gas fitter coming to change our gas/electric meters over to new ones, so he could be here a couple of hours anytime between 1 and 5 pm, so looking forward to getting that done. I'm hoping more like 1pm but that might be wishful thinking..,

Would like to wish everyone a Happy St Patrick's day and hope you have a good weekend. don't get to drunk as you only get a headache later..lol

Im sorry, ~Jo~ I thought it was midnight at the time,... And no, of course not, in fact ppl getting rid of other ppl may be one of the most horrible things that a person can do to another.

I did it to someone I love 30 years ago, bc I was a drunken jealous SoB, and I'll live with that regret the rest of my sorry life, and have payed for it repeatedly by ppl getting rid of me over and over and over again, so I know first-hand how painful it can be. So no, I would never get rid of you, ~Jo~ ... GBU. :)
