Do you have pierced ears? (or would consider doing it)

I had mine done as an adult, the first one was my choice, the second one was a dare lol, so now I have 2 each side and glad I got them done as I have some pretty earrings to wear now..

I am singly pierced in each ear. Got it done in the mid to late 70s and was around 20. This is when they came out with the "gun." Up until then, you either went to a doctor or did it yourself. A few years back, I had gone a long time without wearing any and could not get any earrings in so had them redone. I don't wear earrings everyday, but do enjoying wearing them when I do.

You are quite right that earring/studs in double pierced ears, while many years ago might at first have been considered a slightly edgy fashion statement, are now considered a conservative look.

Doubles are almost - not quite, but almost - the expected thing to do, right?
