If you could have a do-over for your career what would you have chosen differently?

If I had been good with math, I would have gone into investment banking.

Hard to say, in many ways I don't regret my primary career (even though I changed once I started to feel like I was wasting my life travelling to and from the office). I made good money but spent so much time working I had little time to enjoy it.

:band: Musician .
I was told at one point I was a pretty ok drummer, :BananaDrum: , but I really like all instruments, and wish I could play some well today.....the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
Musician really seems like a young man's profession, unless it's something you've done consistently your whole life.
Kinda like ..... a career? :drum: (bahdum-psshh)

But, really, I wish I would've stuck with it, dedicated, practiced, learned, instead of all the 'extra-curriculars' that went with the scene ...

If I weren't so bashful I always wanted to be an opera singer since I was a kid. But my sister teased me to death about everything in life while we were growing up so I had no self-confidence.

I never wanted to sing opera, but, I did want to sing and be famous. LOL! I came up in the era of Ed Sullivan and Judy Garland. Stage acts always look like so much fun. Though, looking at the wrecks some of those famous people's lives turned out to be, I am glad I did not go in that direction.

Yes, me too.
Of course, I went the much safer route, following the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Keith Moon .....
Ay ay ay wow I shoulda been dead a thousand times over, and I guess I really don't know why I'm still here, and so many of those great talents aren't.
But showbiz, wow, it has devastated many lives, hasn't it, Brighton04?

Show business can be very demanding. My brother had a band when I was a teenager. I use to sing on stage with his band.I use to hang out in some notorious places. I was born again at age 9 and backslidden by age 13.But God kept His hand on me while I stumbled and fell. But I fell no lower than His everlasting arms. The devil had me believing the lie that I was having a good time. NOT! Like the prodigal son's father, He waited until I came to my senses, then he picked me up, turned me around, and placed my feet on solid ground...Hallelujah! Like you, I should have been dead, but I thank God, I am here to testify to His love and mercy. Yes show business has really done a number on a lot of people. There are so many deadly traps in it. Had I continued in it, I doubt if I would be here today.

I started out working in a shop. then career change went into office work, learnt a lot and worked in so many different places job and pay always got better, left that to become a mum. and never went back to office work, stayed home looking after my mum and family, then got into child care did that for 30 years loved the job, different children and parents over the years some children I'm still in contact with today, that was a nice job until about 3 years to the end then it all started to be not so nice to much paper work from the education authority, to many new rules, so after 30 years I gave it all up. now I just do what I want to do and that is better still....

I say the same about nursing Jo. And I hate it that jobs get so political now days. And you are right about paper work. I complained to my director about them sitting around in meetings all day designing new paper to add to the patient charts. They were adding a new sheet of paper every year.It was ridiculous.
