Have you ever witnessed some arguments in your church that now seem pretty silly? At my former church, in a ladies group, an argument over chairs took about an hour

The one I liked best was when a chap was debating why music in church was wicked and against the example set in holy scripture (this was in my Presbyterian days) and I chipped in "why do we allow English in our bibles?" and he actually took it up and debated that only the true original languages can be used in proper worship! ... he went on about it for almost an hour. I nearly wet myself laughing :p

Hey, if English was good enough for Jesus Christ and the Apostles it's good enough for us too, right? :)

Ehm they spoke the Dutch State translation, only correct one.
I heard of a couple who emigrated to America from Holland and she was shocked. Those churches there don't have the Dutch State Translation and that is God's language.

i have observed a long silent feud over the layout of seating in a small charismatic baptist setting .. one lady said how the chairs were set out was prophetic the guy said its inconvenient for people to get out if they need the bathroom . both tried to rally support for their preference over the months , neither realized that's called "a spirit of manipulation" and is witchcraft . one got delivered not sure where the other is at now .

My parish church building has pews. their arrangement is not debated and nobody's said that there is anything prophetic about how they are arranged.

Why would the lady think the chair arrangement was prophetic?

She was of the opinion everything we do is prophetic. But there is a difference between those who speak by the holy Spirit..and those who speak from the imaginations of their own minds.

There's a third alternative you know. Some people are just a little bit crazy.

Years ago I went to a service from Benny Hinn in Holland and we were like: we have to sit on the right. There the anointing is gonna fall. And then it fell on the left. Shoot.
Charismaniacs LOL.

There you see, you interpreted the message wrong! It was Benny's right :smirk:

I serve on the Church Council of my parish. And yes, I have heard some unfortunate conversations and statements (although not often).

I hold this in tension. On the one hand, EVERYONE in the church is a sinner (and they admit it at the beginning of every single worship service, every single week). What do sinners tend to do? Yup, sin. We shouldn't be TOO shocked by that. And it's good to remember that we too are sinners. I TRY to listen.... as a brother in Christ, a fellow sinner redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb..... and not take things personally (although it MAY be so intended, lol). We are brothers and sisters, living and serving together in this fallen world, people who will be sharing all eternity together. On the other hand, this must not infuse the parish and family.... we must not permit it to detour us from our Mission.... we must not return in kind.... and at some point (probably NOT when they are mad!) help each other grow in Christ (me most of all).

My dad says there are just two kinds of people in the world: Those who constantly look for greener grass and those working to make the grass greener.

My half cent.

I haven't seen Benny Hinn specifically but given what passes for "anointing" at some things I've seen I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it when it fell.
