I know for most people they already break down their boxes but for those who might not...break them down and bundle them up for recycling! Don't just put out your new TV box or computer box because thieves are taking note of all your new items by looking at your trash.

This makes a lot of sense. In some of the - shall we say - less desirable parts of some UK cities it has been said that people will break into someone's house and steal stuff (TV, laptop, media players etc) and then watch the house for the empty boxes. The empty boxes indicate that the family has received the insurance money and replaced everything, so the thieves know it's time to break in and relieve the family of another haul of technological doodads.

I figured out a great trick to stop thieves from breaking in. I leave boxes on the curb of guns and assorted ammunition. :drum:

Our postal carrier left a package where they normally leave them but once we got it inside and opened up we saw it wasn't even for us!! It was for a neighbor 4 houses away! We opened it because we were expecting a package that hadn't gotten delivered!! I taped it back up as best I could and went to their house. No one answered so I left it there. Let them contact the USPS about it.

We didn't get technical things this year but I did tell my husband he didn't have to put out all the boxes today for recycling. He could slowly put things out over the next few weeks. He didn't want to do that.

Our local recycling is at the community centre so unless someone sees you taking the boxes there all anyone can tell is that someone in town had a new toy.

We have 2 bins we set out each week for recycling and there are only 3 of us. I'd hate to lug it to a center. It's not very close.

We used to keep our old TV boxes and I'm not sure why. But they came in handy when we finally moved! Everything went right back in.

We have 2 bins too, one with a yellow lid. It goes out every 2 weeks and contains recyclables. The other goes out every week and contains everything else.

Our tall bin is for all trash except recycling. I'd love to have the recycling be like this because we can put out unlimited recycling but only one trash bin per week.

I see. Here we put out two bins if it is the week for recycling collection. Two different trucks come by, the recycling at about 07:00 and the ordinary at about 09:00.

That's a great idea or you can have a nice bonfire in your yard and make a party of it!
