I don't see why the state of the toilet seat is such a big deal. If it's such a small thing for a man to put it down when finished, it's such a small thing for a woman to put it down before starting, no?

(Although in my household it's academic because we leave both the seat and the lid down, to make sure the cat doesn't fall in...)

To be honest, I got in the habit of putting the lid down as well when I had St. Bernards...I didn't want them drinking from the toilet.

But perhaps it is old school and somewhat sexist of me, but I think in this case the man should extend the courtesy to the fairer sex and ensure that at least the seat is down. Sort of like I feel when walking down the street on the sidewalk, the man should take the inside (nearer the traffic), or a man should open the car door for the woman, etc.

Ultimately the toilet seat should be worked out between a couple, but when I hear men fussing about how their wives want them to leave it down, I just don't see making an issue of it. Keep her happy, and you'll be happy too. hehehe.

I don't honestly see the toilet seat as representing anything other than a pointless battle hyped out of proportion by the media. It sometimes seems as if a man has to prove he's "house trained" by leaving an arbitrary object in an arbitrary position. It's not as if my wife is incapable of lowering the seat before using it, any more than I am incapable of lifting it before taking aim. That said...

The person who sees me at the intersection waiting to turn left as they approach from my left, when they are the only car in sight in any direction, and they don't bother to indicate before turning right. Really? Is it so much bother to put the turn signal on so I don't sit there and wait for you?

Yes, I hate that one...with a passion.

I also get annoyed by those who pull out in front of me when there is no one in sight behind me, making me slow down, when if they had waited 5 seconds for me to pass on by, there would be no one to impede.

Wow. If I have to go to the toilet when I bring the kids back at my ex's house I make sure I put it up again. It always has to be up, so it's easier for the men to pee and it won't get a spat on it if a visiting man would accidentily forget. Guess his wife follows the rule now too. It's absolutely not a Dutch thing. I have never seen anyone do that in my life except him. He'd always get mad if I forgot to put it up again.
It's weird. I find this so totally stupid to demand that, yet if it's the other way around and women demand he puts it down or they get mad it's somehow accepted. I understand those men that protest lol.

My dad would always put everything down, also that upper thing to close it. Then in the middle of the night as a kid I had to go, run, quick, sit. Oh. And then it was everywhere.

Making something like putting the seat up or down a basis for demands and anger if they aren't met (for either gender) is absolutely petty and says something about the person who would choose those emotions over taking a simple action to accommodate themselves.

Oh gee, a lot of things.

More and more lately though - the entertainment I have and used to watch - specifically movies. I've had to give up science fiction entirely - I used to enjoy those movies because of the human story elements, which is, I believe, the real draw - but I can no longer tolerate the suspension of disbelief required.

But not only Sci-fi. Also certain movies that enforce certain elements of history that I now question. I'm drawn in, the emotional manipulation works, and now I have a concrete opinion that is completely biased without ever looking at any evidence to the contrary.
