What Martin Luther wrote in his polemical works about Jews, Muslims, and Catholics was immoral regardless of the age in which it was written.
MoreCoffee, my Catholic friend....
Docilic members of the RC Denomination are told by the RC Denomination that the leader of it itself individually may be "infallible" and when he speaks ergo God must agree. So your mindset is understandable. But it is not Protestant. We do not believe that Luther was infallible or the Mouth of God or an Authority (on anything) - we believe he was a sinful, mortal man who can be (and not infrequently was) wrong. Luther said some stupid, offensive, wrong things - they may have been very typical opinions of his day (ones shared by a lot of Catholics in his day, btw) and so historically/culturally not surprising - but stupid and wrong and offensive nonetheless.
Lutherans are not disturbed by this.... Luther never claimed anything for himself, he pointed us to Christ and to Scripture - not to himself or any denomination. Luther demanded that he be fully accountable - and we take his advise. I know that's the antithesis of Catholicism and may be very hard (even impossible) for you to understand or appreciate, but it's the way it is.
