Metric is for those with no concept of imagination.

Sure it's easier to add 3.85mm to 4.63mm to 8.91mm but if you're trying to add 3 5/16 to 4 31/64 to 8 3/8 you've got far more chance of turning your design from a useful component into a piece of concept art. And then you're not just a machinist any more, you're an artisan with a vision.
