Does your denomination do something that it shouldn't?

Does your denomination do something that it shouldn't? Are you embarrassed by something that your church does or has on its website? Is there a part of the service that shouldn't be happening?

I don't think there's anything about my church that I'm specifically embarrassed about.

For a time I attended a church that was into all sorts of weird things. On more than one occasion I queried the minister about it - they were pulling Scripture out of context, slicing and dicing it like a ransom note and it seemed they followed just about every fad that came and went. For a time it was very strange to attend a church that in good conscience I couldn't recommend to anyone. Then it stopped being strange, because I decided I couldn't take any more of the silliness and left (the last straw was a service so bad even my wife walked out of it, although she lasted nearly half an hour longer than I did).

My Church is keen not to offend so in the liturgy we do not write or sing "Yahweh" lest we offend Religious Jewish people. I am not sure that it would offend but the Church hierarchy wants it Yahwehless (and Jehovahless too). I think it is one of the oddities we have in this age when religious intolerance has become an occasion for violence on a frightening scale.

Huh? In Australia? That is weird.
My ex/pastor doesn't mind offending people. Guess that's why we have such a small group. I recently visited another big evangelical church a few times. With communion he didn't even warn people that you couldn't take it if you lived in sin. In fact, it was all all you need is love and they didn't preach on sin.

Not in Australia alone, world wide the use of Yahweh and Jehovah and whatever spellings people use is discouraged for the reasons I previously gave.

No, printed editions of the Jerusalem Bible and the New Jerusalem Bible use Yahweh. I imagine that new editions may not use Yahweh but time will tell.
