A little background information on claims relating to ancient druidic practises involving pumpkin jack-o-lanterns.

A pumpkin is a cultivar of a squash plant, most commonly of Cucurbita pepo, that is round, with smooth, slightly ribbed skin, and deep yellow to orange coloration. The thick shell contains the seeds and pulp. Some exceptionally large cultivars of squash with similar appearance have also been derived from Cucurbita maxima. Specific cultivars of winter squash derived from other species, including C. argyrosperma, and C. moschata, are also sometimes called "pumpkin". In New Zealand and Australian English, the term pumpkin generally refers to the broader category called winter squash elsewhere.

Native to North America, pumpkins are widely grown for commercial use and are used both in food and recreation. Pumpkin pie, for instance, is a traditional part of Thanksgiving meals in Canada and the United States, although commercially canned pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie fillings are usually made from different kinds of winter squash than the pumpkins frequently carved as jack-o'-lanterns for decoration around Halloween.

The ancient druids lived in Great Britain and Europe not in North America. They never saw a pumpkin. Claims that blood was put inside a carved out pumpkin and a light placed inside (an oil lamp presumably since candles were not invented until later in history) to signify that the husband had given a human for sacrifice from his household are a-historical nonsense.

Our pumpkin was rotting and full of flies. How are you supposed to make them?

Some people have said on Facebook that they spray their pumpkins with an acrylic spray. I've never tried it.

I suppose this site, like most other "Christian" sites is fully of bullies... why is it that people who name the name of Christ are the most hateful? I don't get it. :(

I find kinder people coming out of the occult... when they find Jesus, they are the most amazing servants of Jesus Christ, and have the most compassionate hearts, because they know what evil is... and then to taste and see that the Lord is good... totally transforms hearts!!

But here, I can already see cold hearts abound.... I am sorry... I don't know why I came here....
Are you calling me hateful. I have listened to your opinion. I just want to celebrate a fun holiday and see no evil in it where I live. Now I understand you have had a different experience. But I am not a bully, ask anyone here.

Ma'am, I wasn't flaming anyone... I was accused of demonizing halloween. Does that not qualify as flaming? I only originally answered the OP, just like everyone else. He didn't ask for strictly one sided opinions... no, he asked should we, or shouldn't we... my opinion (based on my personal experience) just happened to be different than 99% of those who replied. Therefore, I was accused of demonizing and flaming. :( I apologize if my post and what I shared was offensive to you.
Actually, I didn't accuse you of demonizing.

The Center for Exploited and Missing children statistics are that only 115 children (out of the +600,000 that go missing each year) are abducted by stranger and 40 of them die. That's out of an entire year. Halloween is not mentioned as being a more dangerous day for children from their statistics.

That's enough. I'd never send my kids out alone to collect candy from strangers. Don't care if it's Halloween or not.
We were told to never accept candy from a stranger.

Every child who came to my door was with a group of parents. I don't know of too many parents these days who let their children trick or treat without adult supervision unless they're of babysitting age and even then the kids are in very big groups.

Those 40 who died were from a one year span and did not all happen on Halloween.

So where is the news of these sacrificed children? Is it from other countries because it's not happening rampantly in the US.

Do many countries have Halloween like the USA does?

No one does it quite like Americans since it's become so commercialized now. It's more like huge party time than anything else.

MC, how come when I Reply With Quote to your post #90 it includes a jpg image? I deleted it before adding my response when I replied but thought it was weird since it's not included in your actual post?
