I hope it is happy and healthy and that Ruth takes some pleasure and comfort from its cheerful noises

Ruth, how is your new bird adjusting?

She is very quiet, it has worried. I moved her cage this morning to being right next to Danny's cage so that maybe he will see her now and sure enough she started chirping just a little bit and she started eating some. I was worried, too, that she wasn't eating but now see that she is. I didn't know if her cage would fit next to Danny's but it does. I hope she is okay. I'm keeping an eye on her. Trying to get her to sit on my finger. She did once and now she moves away from my finger when I put it near her. So I don't push her, don't want to frighten her.

Oh they pick each other so cute. I once had 3 pairs of tiny ones, but one flew away in the shop and they gave another one, don't think that was a girl. Oh my they were always fighting. But in the end the one that was picked on the most, when the other males had died, was quite popular with the girl birds.

It's difficult - I have been told - to know which sex a budgie is.

She'll come around now that she sees Danny. How is he reacting?

I've been keeping her cage closed and his open so he goes and sits on her cage and looks at her. He is looking for a way to get in her cage but can't figure it out.

Pretty sure she is a girl by the color of her cere but if it turns out she is a he then that will be okay. I've had 2 males before and they got along okay.

Yes, the cere is how you can tell whether they're boys or girls but my mom had a bird whose cere changed after the first year! Sex change?? LOL

They will change within the first year but not usually after.

I opened Alice's cage last night and Danny went in and sat with her and they just stared at each other for a long time. He went back to his cage. I am going to let him into her cage again today. I hope you all have a good day!
