Why does the USA give more aid money to Israel than is given some USA states?

Maybe they are but USA experience and policy in the Arab world has not been happy for anybody.

I don't know why we meddle in places we have no business meddling. But hey, look at how well our meddling in the Middle East has worked out so far...money well spent, no?

The USA has been the most generous nation on Earth, in all history. Ironically, many protest this - when it's NOT money THEY are getting. What country is refunding America for the enormous aid we gave to European nations during WW1 (before and during our entrance into that European war)? The enormous money and blood given during WW 2? The enormous money given to rebuild Europe (BOTH sides!) after WW 2? All the money we spent protecting western Europe from Soviet expansion after WW 2 during the Cold War? Ah... but when Israel gets a (relatively speaking TINY amount of aid compared to what they've gotten)..... lots of protest.

Yeah Josiah, does seem strange does it not. I will say this that if we turn against Israel it will be a dark day and the nation will not survive it.

I'm not saying we turn against Israel, but we don't need to effectively take sides in a conflict that's really none of our business. Our meddling in the affairs of the Middle East has done nothing but rightfully garner resentment and animosity from Arab nations towards us.

I agree with Mark. Australia is a friend of the USA but Australia does not send billions of dollars to the USA as foreign military aid to help the USA subdue its enemies. In the same way the USA is Israel's friend yet it need not send 38 billion dollars of military aid to Israel to help Israel subdue its enemies. Israel has a good economy, plenty of arms, nuclear weapons, a large well equipped army, air-force, and navy so Israel really is not in desperate need of aid.

Yeah, and I'm trying to think about how I would feel if say the Native Americans decided they had a right to take some portion of the U.S. back (how dare they, we took it from them fair and square), and the governments of other nations were allied together to make that happen and sending billions of dollars in military aid and support. I just might see those governments as an enemy of the U.S....just maybe.

Priorities are mixed up! I feel it's wrong and we should help our states first. Israel is doing okay and I don't think they need that much aid.

For that kind of money we could easily launch at least 3 new space telescopes. Now that would be money well spent.
