I started this thread to not derail The Holy Trinity thread.

Jesus is 100% God and 100% man at the same time. That seems like a mathematical impossibility but with God anything is possible. Let's discuss.

Good idea.

I suggest we let God have the first word.

May I request that Lämmchen present all the relevant Scriptures from both the OLD and NEW Testaments for us first?

What better basis for discussion could there possibly be?

Jesus has the attributes of God:
He knows everything (Matthew 16:21; Luke 11:17; John 4:29),
is everywhere (Matthew 18:20; 28:20; Acts 18:10),
has all power (Matthew 8:26–27; 28:18; John 11:38–44; Luke 7:14–15; Revelation 1:8),
depends on nothing outside of himself for life (John 1:4; 14:6; 8:58),
rules over everything (Matthew 28:18; Revelation 1:5; 19:16;),
never began to exist and never will cease to exist (John 1:1; 8:58),
and is our Creator (Colossians 1:16).

Jesus is Man:
Born of a human mother (Luke 2:7; Galatians 4:4),
became weary (John 4:6), thirsty (John 19:28),
hungry (Matthew 4:2),
human emotions (Matthew 8:10; John 11:35).

Peter in one chapter speaks first of Jesus being the Son of God and then later on proclaims him as God.

Genesis 3 gives us the promise of the savior born to a woman.

Correct. As affirmed by the First, Third and Fifth Ecumenical Councils. Jesus is BOTH human and divine..... always....... inseparably..... NEVER merged or combined, but never separated either. Where one is, the other is.

This reality has a lot of comforting implications..... it means we CAN say that JESUS is with us (even though we can't SCIENTIFICALLY prove His humanity is here)., "I (God - Man) am with you always." We can believe Jesus in Holy Communion when He says, "This is my body.... this is my blood" because Jesus is BOTH - ALWAYS - INSEPARABLY - human and divine, God and man. We may not be able to scientifically prove His promise true - but we affirm that He is God and Man - both, together, inseparably, always.

If the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth is and was and always has been omnipotent then why did he proclaim that He knew not the hour at which he would return, or at what time the end and judgement would be? Did He not state that only the father knew of such?

Surely I don't perceive the Christ to be of deceit, so what other explanation is there?

Also, why did he cry" Abba, why have you forsaken me" if he himself was the utter fullness of GOD. That's not omnipotent. And him being crucified shows that he wasn't omnipotent.

Note that this is not a discussion about the Holy Spirit, or refutation that Christ is, was, and always will be wholly of GOD.

I will gladly move past these things when they are logically addressed.

Thank everyone for their participation.

And thank you for opening this thread.

I hope we can converse in the spirit of understanding and brotherly help.

Peace

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

While He was God He laid that aisde and operated as man does. He needed the Holy Spirit to do the things He did and He did them as a man, not God. That is why we are told to attain the prize of the high calling because Christ as a man did it to show us what was possible

I respectfully disagree that Jesus ever gave up His humanity. Yes, He "laid aside" the privileges of His DIVINITY in order to be the suffering servant, but that doesn't mean He GAVE UP either of His natures to become ONLY a man or ONLY God. Jesus is ALWAYS, FULLY, INSEPERABLY Human and Divine.

Jesus has two natures but they aren't separated as in he was man at this time and God another time. He is always God.

How He operated is what i am talking about, if He operated as God He wouldnt need the Holy Spirit, He wouldnt have been tempted in the wilderness and He could not be our substitute. Cant have it both ways

Jesus didn't need the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at His baptism because Jesus was identifying with us sinners by being baptized and receiving the Holy Spirit. It was the beginning of his ministry.

That makes little sense if Jesus is and always was the utter fullness of GOD.

If the Holy Spirit is GOD and Jesus of Nazareth was always GOD then what was the point of him receiving the Holy Spirit(GOD)?

Jesus received the Holy Spirit as example for our baptisms since WE receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in baptism (Acts 2:38).

I believe the example of Christ to be of the utmost importance for the believer and follower. But that doesn't answer my question. And also; my initial questions have yet to have been addressed.

The other thing is that if He did these things as God then He cant be our example as to what we can do nor as God would it have been fair for satan and he could cry foul if He was operating as God. Again this is why I said He needed the Holy Spirit just as we do to operate in the gifts while on earth. It was not God who was tempted but the Man Jesus

I gave a lot of scripture that addressed the topic in post 4.
