Deists skip the gates and just descend into Jerusalem from the sky.

I have this on good authority. Jesus himself told me.

What - you don't believe me? It's right here in this book I wrote...:p

Annnd...I'll leave now. My feet are getting hot from touching this area, lol.

The implications of how do you get the rights to walk through the one of the twelve gates is something I believe we need to explore.

seeing as how you said 12 gates I would assume that each one is for a tribe so guess it would depend on which tribe we are associated with

That is what I am thinking.... I have seen some suggest the same and go so far as to identify them by their prophetic characters.. much like the congregations of Revelation are identified by their characteristics.

I would like to hear the way you understand it. By no means, is this a declaration thread of the way I believe on the subject. I have no idea, but have pondered a few suggestions, theologies, ideologies, and guesses.

So here is one suggestion based up what is written of the prophecies Jacob gave them at the end of his life about what would happen to them at the "end of days".

One ...Their mother blessed each child with a name when they were born for a reason.

Two.... Jacob blessed them at the end of his days in Gen 49.

Three.. Moses blessed them at the end of his days in Deut 33.

In Jacob's blessing you have

Reuben – The First (‘bechor’) – represents the powerful energy of everything that comes first. "Unstable like water,’ this power can go either way. If harnessed properly, the ‘bechor’ energy can change worlds; if abused it can destroy. It is one born out of false hope. Gen 29:32 "The LORD has surely seen my affliction. Now therefore, my husband will love me." Gen 49:2 Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father's bed; Then you defiled it -He went up to my couch.

Simeon – The Aggressor(Gevurah) It is all about using might or restraint often associated with the holding back of revelations or restricting the dispersion of inspirations to others. It is also about being heard by God and answers to prayer. Gen 29:33 "Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also." The inner turmoil caused by the resistance to the workings of the Holy Spirit in conflict with the answers to prayer which is evidence that God does communicate in both the hearing and responding.

Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place. Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox. Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob And scatter them in Israel.

Levi – The Spiritual Leader "Levi" also means ‘attached’ or ‘joined’. Levi is the personality of dedicating your life to serving a higher calling. Of freeing yourself from your bounds to material survival and attaching yourself to God's service. Gen 29:34 "Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons." Therefore his name was called Levi. From that point on Leah was a accepted member of the family and not the obligation wife.

Moses said this about the Levi of which is his own family line. "Let Your Thummim and Your Urim be with Your holy one, Whom You tested at Massah, And with whom You contended at the waters of Meribah, Who says of his father and mother, 'I have not seen them'; Nor did he acknowledge his brothers, Or know his own children; For they have observed Your word And kept Your covenant. They shall teach Jacob Your judgments, And Israel Your law. They shall put incense before You, And a whole burnt sacrifice on Your altar. Bless his substance, LORD, And accept the work of his hands; Strike the loins of those who rise against him, And of those who hate him, that they rise not again."

Judah – The Kingdom Leader (‘hoda'ah,’ as in ‘modeh ani’ meanings acknlowledgement) God’s Divine Name which consist of the four Hebrew letters yud-hei-vav-hei, expressing His transcendence of time and space, can be found in Judah's name. His leadership skills will be based on selflessness, a true vital ingredient in a great leader. God 29:35 "Now I will praise God." Therefore she called his name Judah.

Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father's children shall bow down before you. Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey's colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes. His eyes are darker than wine, And his teeth whiter than milk.

Moses said this about Judah "Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, And bring him to his people; Let his hands be sufficient for him, And may You be a help against his enemies."

Dan – The Judge is the path of law and order (‘dan’ means to judge). Objective justice is the heart of any civilization. He is the letter of the law and justice will prevail under him. Gen 30:6 Then Rachel said, "God has judged my case; and He has also heard my voice and given me a son." Therefore she called his name Dan.

Joseph said Dan shall judge his people As one of the tribes of Israel. Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse's heels So that its rider shall fall backward. I have waited for your salvation, O LORD!

And about Dan, Moses said "Dan is a lion's whelp; He shall leap from Bashan."

Naphtali – The Free Spirit. Like a ‘deer running free’ He is independent which is part of his necessary component in growth. You will know his is a good one when this free spiritedness must always take care to ‘deliver words of beauty.’ Gen 30:6 Rachel said, "With great wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister, and indeed I have prevailed." So she called him Naphtali. Rachel had used Belhah to get this child. Balhah means "to trouble".

Joseph said Naphtali is a deer let loose; He uses beautiful words.

Moses said "O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, And full of the blessing of the LORD, Possess the west and the south."

Gad – The Warrior, 'trooper'. Expanding on the justice of Dan, Gad is ready to fight for his beliefs. The warrior is necessary to both defend our cherished values and to protect our freedoms. Gen 30:11 Then Leah said, "A troop comes!" So she called his name Gad.

Joseph said Gad, a troop shall tramp upon him, But he shall triumph at last

Moses said "Blessed is he who enlarges Gad; He dwells as a lion, And tears the arm and the crown of his head. He provided the first part for himself, Because a lawgiver's portion was reserved there. He came with the heads of the people; He administered the justice of the LORD, And His judgments with Israel."

Asher – The Prosperous One Asher is the personality of not just getting what you need, but also enjoying it. Gen 30:13 Then Leah said, "I am happy, for the daughters will call me blessed." So she called his name Asher.

Joseph said Bread from Asher shall be rich, And he shall yield royal dainties.

Moses said "Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favored by his brothers, And let him dip his foot in oil. Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be."

Issachar – The Scholar. Scholars provides wisdom, clarity and direction. It is the foundation of any system. Issachar is the dedication to immerse in study and education. The man for hire. Gen 30:18 Leah said, "God has given me my hire [wages] because I have given my maid to my husband." So she called his name Issachar.

Joseph said "Issachar is a strong donkey, Lying down between two burdens; He saw that rest was good, And that the land was pleasant; He bowed his shoulder to bear a burden, And became a band of slaves.

Moses said And of Zebulun he said: "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, And Issachar in your tents! They shall call the peoples to the mountain; There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness; For they shall partake of the abundance of the seas And of treasures hidden in the sand."

Zebulun – The Businessperson His role is to enter the marketplace and redeem the divine inspirations within the material world (the ‘secret treasure hidden in the sand’ (Deuteronomy 33:19)). Zebulun complements Issachar; they forge a partnership: Zebulun supports the scholar, he funds houses of scholarship, which earns him a right to partake in the reward of Issachar’s studies. Gen 30:20 Leah said, "...now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons." So she called his name Zebulun.

Joseph said Zebulun shall dwell by the haven of the sea; He shall become a haven for ships, And his border shall adjoin Sidon.

Joseph – The Sufferer Joseph is the element of suffering in life. Yet, he not only survives; he thrives. He achieves greatness through his challenges. He overcomes all adversaries and becomes a great leader, saving his entire generation. Yeshua is the siffering servant of prophecy known as Messiah ben Joseph. He will be saving all who come to Him and follow His leadership. Gen 30:24 So she called his name Joseph, and said, "The LORD shall add to me another son." Yeshua came to increase the understanding of God's Will. He came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it. Because of Yeshua, our understanding of God's Will has become clearer. It took great suffering on His part to open up our eyes to the results of sin and its penalty which He took upon Himself.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a well; His branches run over the wall. The archers have bitterly grieved him, Shot at him and hated him. But his bow remained in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong By the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob (From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel), By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb. The blessings of your father Have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, Up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.

Moses said "Blessed of the LORD is his land, With the precious things of heaven, with the dew, And the deep lying beneath, With the precious fruits of the sun, With the precious produce of the months, With the best things of the ancient mountains, With the precious things of the everlasting hills, With the precious things of the earth and its fullness, And the favor of Him who dwelt in the bush. Let the blessing come 'on the head of Joseph, & on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.' His glory is like a firstborn bull, And his horns like the horns of the wild ox; Together with them He shall push the peoples To the ends of the earth; They are the ten thousands of Ephraim, And they are the thousands of Manasseh."

Menashe – As The Reconnection. Menashe is the one given the blessing of having the ability to not succumb to the powers of the Egyptian constraints or directives that would make you let go of your spiritual roots. To remain connected regardless of the challenges.

Ephraim – Transformation. It is not enough to just survive in an alien environment, but to thrive to truly ‘be fruitful in the land of my affliction’ is Ephraim's trait. Ephraim has the power to transform the difficulties into overcoming moments.

Benjamin – The Ravenous Consumer as a ‘ravenous wolf’ Benjamin recognizes that his mission is to passionately seek out the Godly understanding of energy embedded in all matter, devour it, consume and elevate it. He would be like a nutritionist who learns which food is good for what, not only for his own health but for everyone around him. Paul was from this tribe. In his case, he was ravenous of spiritual food and devoured it, and shared it throughout with great enthusiasm. It is true, when he was under the tutorage of Pharisee, he consuming of not only Torah but oral traditions made his ravenous to destroy this new Jewish faith that was sweeping Judaism that he was willing to squash it where ever he found it. That was, of course, before Yeshua opened up his eyes to the truth. Gen 35:18 As her soul was departing (for she died), she called his name Ben-Oni [son of my sorrow]; but his father called him Ben-Jamin [son of my right hand].

Joseph said Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.

Moses said "The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by Him, Who shelters him all the day long; And he shall dwell between His shoulders."

Amen.

I was going to add.
First we must come to know the foundations and standards already laid before us. How else would we find the pearl to each if we did not purchase the field?

The Kingdom of Heaven is likened to.

Numbers 13King James Version (KJV)

13 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
3 And Moses by the commandment of the Lord sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

4 And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5 Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

9 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10 Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11 Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16 These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
18 And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

I wonder just how quick the crowd is?

OP what do the twelve gates represent? What do you say? I really dont want a fourth thread with you and Josiah going on about the same thing. Three is morte than enough, for the most part I think everyone has done what i am doing skipping over them, there are enough pages to get the point across me thinks

As I was putting together the different aspects of each member of Jacob's family tree, I noticed that I find myself identifying with different members for different reasons, so I am a mix of this and that one for those reasons. Is any one of them sticking out to say that is my main characteristic...hmmm.. maybe

That is the reason I put it out there.. because if anyone else could add insights it would greatly help. As it is I feel like I am like Issachar. I do a lot of deep research, and I think you can see that what I found, is shared with you all here on the forum.. as just an example.
