There is a great wave of refugees exiting Syria and staying for a while in Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq but many are not willing to stay in those countries where they cannot work and cannot live a normal life but must be contained in camps where tents are their homes and rain and snow bring terrible cold in winter and the unrelenting sun of the hot dry summer regions shines for too many hours every day. Some resent these people leaving their camps some are very fearful that they hide among their number terrorists who will wreck havoc in any western nation to which they go. Many think that it is illegal for them to leave the camps and board a boat or other transport and travel to Europe, North America, Australia, or New Zealand. Countries close their borders, build fences, build walls, work assiduously to stop them entering their territory. The eyes of the news media shows them in their hundreds and the voice of the new media speaks of their thousands and millions. The reports give the impression of overwhelming numbers gathering on the borders seeking to find a way in and all the while the hint is expressed that these may be terrorists or criminals. Many think of them as drains on the nations welfare taking tax money as income and receiving special treatment in housing and medical care. Some worry of diseases being spread by them. The stories encourage fears.

I recently read this passage in a book, a passage that despite its extremity reminded me of the fears many are feeling now and the way that fears make eyes see unreality.

Last night to the flicks. All war films. One very good
one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the Mediterranean.
Audience much amused by shots of a great huge fat man trying to swim away
with a helicopter after him, first you saw him wallowing along in the
water like a porpoise, then you saw him through the helicopters gunsights,
then he was full of holes and the sea round him turned pink and he sank as
suddenly as though the holes had let in the water, audience shouting with
laughter when he sank. then you saw a lifeboat full of children with a
helicopter hovering over it. there was a middle-aged woman might have been
a Jewess sitting up in the bow with a little boy about three years old in
her arms. little boy screaming with fright and hiding his head between her
breasts as if he was trying to burrow right into her and the woman putting
her arms round him and comforting him although she was blue with fright
herself, all the time covering him up as much as possible as if she thought
her arms could keep the bullets off him. then the helicopter planted a 20
kilo bomb in among them terrific flash and the boat went all to matchwood.
then there was a wonderful shot of a child's arm going up up up right up
into the air a helicopter with a camera in its nose must have followed it
up and there was a lot of applause from the party seats but a woman down in
the prole part of the house suddenly started kicking up a fuss and shouting
they didn't oughter of showed it not in front of kids they didn't it ain't
right not in front of kids it ain't until the police turned her turned her
out i don't suppose anything happened to her nobody cares what the proles
say typical prole reaction they never----

Good story to rouse the masses but the fact remains that until people can be properly cleared and the countries have enough money and room to handle them they cannot enter. The muslim countries need to take care of a lot of them

Another passage from the same book offers this insight.

His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know
and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling
carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which
cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of
them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim
to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the
guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then
to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and
then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process
to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to
induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of
the act of hypnosis you had just performed.

Call it what you will and I will stand by what i say. When your country has been overrun to the point of not being able to take care of them I dont think you have a lot of room to talk. America was founded on immigrants and still to this day takes in so many of them

Germany took in 1 million. Australia takes far far less. If Australia was taking a proportional number then we would have taken in 250,000 during 2015, as it is we took in around 35,582 but they were not from Syria alone.

The story of the Good Samaritan is a challenge to us all, no?

The story of the Good Samaritan is a challenge to us all, no?

The laws of ancient Israel - and some in CH seem very attached to some of those laws (especially the ones about feasts) - stipulated how to treat the foreigner and the stranger who was in the land of Israel.
(Exodus 12:49) One law shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
(Exodus 20:10) but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
(Leviticus 19:33) And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not do him wrong.
(Leviticus 19:34) The stranger that sojourneth with you shall be unto you as the home-born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were sojourners in the land of Egypt: I am Jehovah your God.
(Leviticus 25:6) And the sabbath of the land shall be for food for you; for thee, and for thy servant and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant and for thy stranger, who sojourn with thee.
(Leviticus 25:35) And if thy brother be waxed poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.
(Numbers 15:15) For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you, a statute for ever throughout your generations: as ye are, so shall the sojourner be before Jehovah.
(Numbers 15:16) One law and one ordinance shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
(Joshua 20:9) These were the appointed cities for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person unwittingly might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
(Ezekiel 47:23) And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord Jehovah.
Of course there are many more passages in the prophets about justice and compassion that are to be shown to the foreigner and the stranger. The faithful are called to be just and to show compassion. The current situation is one that calls for Christians to stand for what is just and compassionate.

Exactly and you fail to count all that we have taken in as well

What's the source for your claim of 100,000 refugees received every year by the USA? Do you have a URL that can be checked?

If you can find the statistics at a reliable site I'd appreciate seeing it.

Immigrants need not be refugees. Australia regularly takes in about 150,000 immigrants each year. We are discussing refugees. Refugees are a very specific category that is mentioned in the source I gave before (see here).

In other words lets not look at anything else because it blows up your attacks on the USA. Of course they are counted as they add up and there has to be a limit on how manhy you allow in a country
