But can you answer the point about finding the Sabbath if you were in the scenario I described earlier?
It is said that there is a 7 day cycle. This is true, and observable for many things, as the article you linked points out.
- However -
There is no reason to assume it is a continuously cycling 7 day cycle, and has been so from the beginning.
The ancient Israelites also celebrated "new moon" day. Ever wonder why? The moon is heavenly body, and therefore it is a sign for one of the "days, seasons or years" according to Genesis.
It is said and assumed that the Jews never lost Sabbath.
Scripture says different:
Lamentations 2:
The Lord is like an enemy;
he has swallowed up Israel.
He has swallowed up all her palaces
and destroyed her strongholds.
He has multiplied mourning and lamentation
for Daughter Judah.
6
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden;
he has destroyed his place of meeting.
The Lord has made Zion forget
her appointed festivals and her Sabbaths;
in his fierce anger he has spurned
both king and priest.
How then did Israel find it again? Did they ever find it again? How do we know? Because they could not have found it if the 7 day cycle has been continually cycling and they forgot which day was Sabbath.
