Summer plans?

What do you have planned for the summer? Any great family trips or get togethers? Cook outs?

My daughter will be visiting us in August and I cannot wait to see her!! I'm hoping I can have days off to spend time with her and do some hiking and visit some historical sites in the area.

The summer seems to be about half over. My oldest son got married the middle of June. Helped get the LWML convention set up. Spent a day in Nebraska with relatives I don't get to see very often. Am now in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area with my daughter as she attends a conference and I am watching two of her three littles. We will all get back to Iowa on Sunday or Monday. We are planning on going to Family Retreat at our District's camp in August. Will also be attending a conference in D.C. on marriage and religious freedom that is through our church's Synod. Other than that, I work a few days a week.

I hope to go to some cookouts that my manager has this summer. Would also like to go to the beach. Take longer walks, too.

This summer it's been so hot that it hurts to do anything. Husband and I are trying to figure out what to do. I messed up on my holiday request, so we can't do what we originally intended, and we will only have a day or two... like an early weekend. So we're looking into some interesting day trips within driving distance. We're thinking Whistler...
