I see the reference now.

That is how the angel addressed Mary. It is not a format for prayer to her. She is not worthy of our prayer.

Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

The above is holy scripture. It is addressed to Blessed Mary.

Where does holy scripture ever say that Blessed Mary is "the mother of" anybody who is not named Jesus?

Enoch was taken to heaven because he pleased God and he too needed a saviour. Blessed Mary pleased God and was taken to heaven. Now can you tell me where the holy scriptures ever say that Blessed Mary sinned?

Where's the grave?
It isn't important for us to know where Mary was buried. The bible hardly mentions her. It's about Jesus!

She was not like Enoch. You can't make stuff up about a falsely exalted person.

The holy scriptures mention Blessed Mary just enough to tell us that "God has looked with favour on the humility of his handmaid. For behold, from this time, all generations shall call me blessed." (Luke 1:48)

No one is denying that Mary was highly favoured by God. We call her blessed, and rightly so, but to go beyond that into exaltation, adoration and in praying to her is sin.

Sure, it is misplaced adoration.

Adoration belongs to God alone. That's common knowledge. Blessed Mary is venerated and regarded as Blessed because these are evident in the holy scriptures.

No Catholic Christian adores Blessed Mary.

Speak for yourself.. I have seen in catholic bedrooms in their houses where the have a shrine set up with the image of mary. The burn incense. To her and the kneel to the image and pray as an act of worship.
.. .. But you say no catholic adores mary?
These shrines are all over the world..
Please be honest.

I will give you this, the veneration of Mary has been taken way too far in some cases. As I've said, Mary has no powers at all. Any miracle that is performed through her name somehow is dispensed through the power of God. But I revere her as the Mother of God.

You see a shrine including an image of Blessed Mary and a person kneeling before it in prayer and you ASSUME that the person is adoring Mary. I see the same thing and know that the person is praying for help and is adoring God. The worship offered it worship of God almighty. But you do not listen to the person who was seen and do not ask (do you adore Mary and worship her?) because the answer would burst the imaginary bubble you've assumed is 'true'.

Nice sidestep, are they praying to Mary or not? Mary is like every other human and is sleeping till the return of Jesys as per the bible and not in heaven interceding for anyone that is Jesus job

It's YOUR premise that the two things Scriptures teach and affirming both in the title are false, wrong and blasphemy BECAUSE those that affirm these things pray TO Mary; your point (made 4 times in this thread) is that it's wrong and false to affirm these two biblical truths BECAUSE of the cause/effect that those who believe them ERGO, THEREFORE pray TO Mary. You stated this as a matter of fact and the reason for you rejecting these things (and siding with a heretic whom you referenced for support of your position) is that it RESULTS in praying TO Mary.

So the "ball" is in your court to prove this cause/effect. Not to ask Coffee IF he individually prays TO Mary rather than requesting Mary to pray FOR him. Bill.... there are perhaps 630,000,000 Christians who are NOT Catholics but who side WITH Scripture, WITH the First and Third and Fifth Ecumenical Councils, who do NOT side with heretics or with the heresies of Arianism and Nestorianism so DO embrace the title as valid. Your claim is that they all pray TO Mary because affirming these two biblical teachings MANDATES that they do so. So.... Bill..... prove your point. Prove all 630 MILLION non-Catholics (NOT Catholics) who embrace the teaching and title ERGO pray TO Mary. In fact, two of us suggested an easier approach. Two here - myself and Lamm - both side with the Scriptures and embrace the title as valid - so just prove both of us ergo pray TO Mary and the REASON we both do is because we believe the two teachings of Scripture and thus embrace the title as valid. Prove your premise is true - at least in the case of TWO of the 630,000,000 non-Catholics who embrac the title. It is your premise. Four times you've stated it. It is your reason for why the title is false, wrong and blasphemy.

The proverbial ball is in your court. Four times you've stated this premise, this argument, this attack. And every time, you've RUN from ANY support of it. Please don't keep sidestepping this.

Sigh you weary me and others with this. I do not know you or your muind and lets face it, those denoms you mentioned are only about one step removed from the Cathiolic church and very much like it more so than say evangelicals. You ask something that you know I cant do yet you also will not show that people praying to Mary is wriong or even how they got there so you are just blindly defending that which I know is wrong and I am sure you do as well. This board has a decidedly Catholic flavor to it, if you want a Catholic board just say so so I can move on.

I've NEVER defended praying TO Mary.

Yet you insist that the reason it is wrong, false, blaspheming to accept these two biblical teachings and thus hold that the title is valid, your reason is that there is this cause/effect mechanism at work: Those who affirm the biblical teachings, the Ecumenical Councils (rather than the heretic you referenced) are wrong BECAUSE they pray TO Mary. But, Bill, my friend, you have yet to show this is true - much less that it is a result of accepting these Scriptures rather than that heretic. In respect, we've made it so easy for you. We have two here whom you know, who are defending the biblical truths and holding that the title is thus valid...... we are Lamm and myself. NEITHER of us are Catholics (so leave Catholicism out of this). We both have made it clear we think the Bible, the Councils and the title are to be affirmed as valid..... we think the views of this man are wrong...... so therefore, prove your "CAUSE/EFFECT" argument, your basis for insisting the title is false, wrong and blaspheming... this "it causes people to pray TO Mary." Show that Lamm and I pray to Mary.... AND that we do so as the result (cause/effect) of holding to these two truths rather than to Arianism and Nestorianism. Just two, friend..... if this cause/effect argument of yours is valid, we've made it easy for you to substantiate it. Don't you agree, Bill?

As for the "Catholic" thing. Friend, neither Lamm or I are Catholic. There are some 630,000,000 Christians in the world today that affirms these truths and thus this title who are NOT Catholic. What about them? Why keep bringing up the RCC? When we speak of the Trinity, do you mock it because Catholics also believe it? A WHOLE BUNCH of non-RCC'ers do, too - as you know. Same here. This is no more distinctively Catholic than is the doctrine of the Trinity. Why bring up Catholicism? It's irrelevant. They didn't invent this, it's NOT exclusive to them. There are 630,000,000 NON Catholics you are condemning. NON-RCC'ers. NOT Catholics. This has nothing to do with Catholicism (well, anymore than the Trinity does).

Come on, my friend. You are typically a very thoughtful, wise poster. One I respect.

Ah, you're back to the "if the term/title isn't found verbatim in the Bible, we can't use it!" argument. Well... you have often used the title "Bible" in your posts. It's not in the Bible, either. So, you don't agree with your own premise, your own argument. So there's no reason for us to.

Now, if you are rebuking all churches that use terms like "Reverend" or "Bible" or "Sunday School" or "Youth Pastor" or "Praise Band" if you rebuke them as boldly as you are rebuking us, then you'll have a point. But otherwise, since you yourself use the title/term "BIBLE" then you yourself don't agree with your own point here. Since you don't, you should agree we shouldn't either.

Thank you.

Praying to Mary has nothing to do with Cathollics? And yes I see other denoms here that I associate very closely with the Catholic church, nothing aginst that but if the practices are wrong then I do have a problem. I am not anti Catholic per se but that is where a lot of my problem comes in

Your argument against these Scriptural truths and thus the validity of the title is that those who uphold these truths (rather than the heretic you held up) ergo, therefore, in a cause/effect manner, pray TO Mary. Okay. Substantiate that.

Now, if you like to eliminate Catholcis, that's fine. There are some 630,000,000 NON-Catholics, some 630,000,000 who are NOT Catholics, who also affirm those two biblical truths (rather than the two heresies of Arianism and Nestorianism) and thus hold the title valid, prove that 1) all of them pray TO Mary and 2) that the cause of this is that they hold to these two biblical truths (rather than the two heresies). Prove both.

Again, we've made it so easy for you (since it would be hard for you to prove both of those for nearly 2 billion people - Catholics included). How about just 2? Lamm and I. NEITHER of us are Catholics. BOTH of us hold to these two biblical truths and reject the two heresies. We both affirm the title is valid. So (we've made it so easy for you cuz we like you), just prove that 1) both of us pray TO Mary and 2) the CAUSE of this is specifically that we embrace those two biblcal truths rather than Arianism and Nestorianism. Easy. Will you do it? Or will you keep sidestepping your argument? Otherwise, you have provided NOTHING to show your premise is true, your argument holds any water AT ALL. How can we possibly make it easier for you to show your argument to be true? Bill, I'm trying to be nice here, to make it as easy as possible for you.
