No reply to my above question, so that would seem to confirm that the "Thought Nazis" have acted once again. Nothing that could be described as surprising at all. LOL

Bill, just out of interest, how would you address a Muslim living in the Middle East whose family was killed by a stray western missile who said that we in the west are a malignant growth that needs killed and his people should eradicate us before we have a chance to do any more damage over there?
How would you address any of the thousands that have been killed by ISIS for their religion or other reasons? War is war abd there will always be innocents who get killed, if we used your reasoning we would all be speaking Geman not and WW2 would have turned out much differently thank God you were not in chatge of that

Nobody said ISIS are the good guys by any means. The trouble with asymmetric warfare is that it needs to be fought in different ways to traditional warfare.

War is war abd there will always be innocents who get killed, if we used your reasoning we would all be speaking Geman not and WW2 would have turned out much differently

War is an ugly business and difficult decisions have to be made. The trouble is that in the current battle we're not fighting a conventional war where Country A is in a state of war with Country B and everything is clearly defined. The battle is against a specific group of people who call themselves Muslims, who may be in one or more countries, who don't wear a uniform so it's hard to identify who is a fighter and who is a civilian, and who don't hold the widely agreed rules of warfare in any regard at all. When what is in many ways little more than a ragtag army of angry men with beards who live in caves fighting a military machine funded by hundreds of billions of dollars it's inevitable that they will improvise, merely to stand a chance. And so if they place an IED fashioned out of an old landmine at the roadside they can cause a lot of damage (vehicle, machinery or human) to us, while when we fire missiles costing millions of dollars we may hit nothing more than a few tents and a camel in the desert.

Then there's the issue of trying to avoid any more people becoming radicalised. The trouble is that for every family torn apart in ways that a military manager might regard as "collateral damage" the chances are you've got a few more radicalised fighters joining ranks against you. Faulty intelligence blew up a school that you thought was a munitions factory? Now you've got a load more angry parents willing to do drastic things to get their revenge.

Winning hearts and minds isn't achieved with missiles.

thank God you were not in chatge of that

Let's focus on the issues rather than getting personal, huh?
