I thought it was the Babylon Bee at first making fun of Maxwell House, but it's true! Maxwell House coffee is temporarily changing its name to Maxwell Apartment. What kind of insanity is this?

The coffee brand owned by Kraft Heinz, will temporarily be renamed "Maxwell Apartment," a move it said it made "to meet the needs of today's consumer."

From the article: "Nearly one-third of Americans chose to rent their homes versus purchasing, according to data from the Census Bureau. "

Choose to rent or have to rent because they can't afford to buy?

It's still a choice because they chose to remain in an area where prices are high. They can choose to relocate to an area where housing prices are low, so it's a choice.

I see your point and I don't disagree with it.

One of the problems of the lower housing price areas though, wages and job opportunities are correspondingly lower as well.

There are a number of cities where you can buy a large and fairly nice house with mortgage payments lower than renting a single room in other more prosperous cities, but they are mostly just dying towns now with only limited areas of them still having basic services maintained and large parts of them just abandoned. They generally have high crime rates and really aren't amenable to any kind of desirable lifestyle.

If the nature of your job is such that it is portable and you can take it along with you these are ideal.

Either way I'm not really sure that the difference between renting and buying is relevant to the difference between Maxwell House and Maxwell Apartment. I'd have thought the trendy push to be ever-more inclusive would suggest Maxwell Home as a better alternative. Some people choose to rent a house, after all.

I thought the same thing... Maxwell Home! But it still sounds a little off now that I see it typed out. I'd personally like Maxwell Living. Because coffee brings you to life. LOL

When I'm drinking coffee I prefer something I can get more excited about than "isn't too bad really"

Life is too short to drink bad coffee

We have a local coffee shop, about a mile away from home. It's run by a guy who lives about half a mile the other way from home. He's a really nice guy, and he's improved the coffee shop since he took over. He roasts coffee in house, and I've taken to buying my coffee from him. I used to buy it from another local(ish) company. The local guy offered better coffee but his price was a bit high for the amount of it I use, but I talked to him about bulk orders and now I'm treated more or less like a wholesale customer. So I get good coffee at a good price.

That's the way to do things!! I don't drink enough of it to make any deals like that unfortunately. But wow, having really good coffee is true luxury!

Until I figured he'd cut me a nice deal the coffee I bought was from a fairly local supplier. I bought two of his coffees and blended them.

With my new supplier I have a preferred blend and if I run low and he can't get me what I want in time there are a couple of other blends I'd happily take. They are the ones I usually drink in his cafe, there doesn't seem a lot of point paying to drink the same coffee I have at home.
