My husband and I were watching a movie (Footloose from the 80s) and toward the ending there is a fight scene between boys and the girls are cheering on the main characters. In today's movies, the girls would be out there fighting and kicking the boys' behinds. But is that really believable? Today's movies try to make 100 pound girls into superheroes. Do you really believe that?

What? No, they wouldn't. Why do you think that they would? Do you hear of many women getting involved in fights between guys in today's society?

I've seen a lot of movies and tiny women have the ability to take down a full grown man. It's ridiculous and unbelievable. You haven't seen movies like that?

It's all about equality, innit?

The idea that a woman who weighs 100lb when soaking wet couldn't take down a 300lb man trained in martial arts, or subdue multiple attackers Bruce Lee style, while barely breaking a sweat is clearly sexist and therefore offensive.

Nope. Unless you're talking about superhero movies with superpowered women like Captain Marvel, Black Widow or Wonder Woman. Other than that genre, I can't think of any movies in which tiny women take down full grown man.

What movies are you referring to? Like super hero type movies or Avengers or something?
I don't watch a lot of television. If it was just up to me it would probably never be turned on.

I watch a lot of movies on Netflix, some are teenaged based movies, and those girls aren't the same type of girls from the past.

My husband has watched some movies where there are women who fight men...one was a Jessical Alba movie. I think it's called Trigger Warning. The entire movie, I was like, "Yeah, right."
