The local newspaper (like nearly all in The People's Republic of California, it's a puppet of the Democratic Party) contained an article on page 2 this morning about what "Extremist" Republicans have done in Tennessee.

It seems the Statehouse there - controlled by "radical Republicans" - passed a law (the vote is not reported) that makes it a crime to supply gender-affirming care to a minor without parental consent. WOW! This is reported as hateful and shocking. The bill is now being forwarded to Governor Bill Lee, who is an "extremist Republican" so he'll likely sign it.

What is meant by "gender affirming care" is not reported in the paper, but it does mention medications.

The bill does not make it illegal to do such things to minors, only to do so without the knowledge and consent of the child's parents. This, it seems, is hateful, radical and extremist.

The bill stated that "any adult who 'recruits, harbors, or transports' a child for the purposes of getting them transgender-related medical procedures without their parents' knowledge or consent is guilty of a Class-C felony. "

Included among the "procedures" by the legislation are double mastectomies performed on young girls and surgically creating substitute genitalia on either sex. Puberty-blocking medications are also included, and there are reports that such medications have caused cancer, irreversible sexual disfunction, and significant mental problems.

YES! I live in Tennessee.

Republican Rep. Bryan Richey, the bill’s sponsor, said:
“This is a parent’s rights bill, nothing more, nothing less."
“At the end of the day, parents should have final say what medical procedures their children are receiving, and nobody else.”

Imagine that, believing parents (not strangers) have the best interest of their child in mind.

The point is so obvious that this whole thing says more about the real purposes of the politicians who opposed this legislation than about the so-called "extremist" legislators who were vilified for acting to protect children.

See.... it seems to ME that the press (and the libs that control them) have a SPIN. And it's effective and perpetual and omnipresent.

REPUBLICANS.... CONSERVATIVES are the radical, extremist, wachos, TOTALLY out of touch with people. And hateful on top of that. They USED to claim that all Republicans were fat, rich men but now that that fits Democrats, they've switched gears. Now we're the radicals, the exotremists.

But put your thinking cap on (something the press hopes you'll never do)...

Take ABORTION for example....

Liberals - it's good, right and holy to allow, welcome and charge taxpayers to cover the cost for a women to have an abortion (and pay her transportation costs to get one) - for any or no reason whatsoever, right up to the moment when the last cell of the last toe exits the birth canal. She's already in labor - it's not too late to kill that baby!!! She found out 5 months ago that she's having a girl and she wants a boy - no problem, let's get rid of that girl!!!! A position that exists in North Korea and very few other places. THIS is the moderate position, we're told. BTW, polls show very few Americans actually support this.

Conservatives - It is sad but should be legally permitted to have an abortion for any reason up to 6, 10, 12 or 15 weeks (depending on the State) - as the people in that state decide. And after that if the life of the mother is endangered. This is basically the position of 48 countries around the world, including most European countries. We are told that THIS is the wacho, extremist, radical, hateful position. BTW, polls show this is pretty much where most Americans come down on this.

The same is true in a lot of issues. Yet the SPIN exists and the SPIN seems very effective. We're losing on this. At least in a lot of states, and often the most populous states.

Curiously that well known hotbed of hardcore conservative philosophy, Sweden, has been moving to restrict if not outright ban gender medicine for minors. The recent Cass report in the UK (currently under a Conservative government but still generally further to the left politically then the US) suggests a push away from "gender affirming" treatments for minors.

Even the term "gender affirming" is loaded to encourage acceptance.

"Dad, can I have a beer?"

"No son, you're only 8 and you're not old enough to drink alcohol"

"Dad, can I have a cigarette?"

"No son, you're only 8 and you're not old enough to smoke"

"Dad, can I drive the car?"

"No son, you're not old enough to drive"

"Dad, can I get married?"

"No son, you're not old enough to make a commitment like marriage"

"Dad, can I have hormone treatments and surgery to change my body and render me infertile for the rest of my life?"

"Of course you can son, you know best"

This IS how liberals and Democrats think......

In California, schools are not permitted to give an aspirin to a student without the specific written permission of the parents. BUT they can drive a 12 year old to Planned Parenthood..... help her get an abortion.... and are REQUIRED to not tell the parents that the school did this or that their daughter had an abortion. Planned Parenthood won't tell them either. So if the girl has some problem from this (medical or emotional), the parents won't know the cause and what's going on. Go figure. Liberalism is NUTS. But here's what troubles me: the majority of Americans buy it - hook, line and sinker.
