A Nativity display in an Iowa town was removed from its longtime location at the fire department after city leaders received a letter from an atheist group arguing it is "divisive" to showcase the Christmas scene on public property.

Simple resolution: put it up on private property. Public property (paid by tax dollars both local and federal and state) should not be used to further any specific agenda. Or here's another fix: open the fire station up to any and ALL religious holiday decorations.

What do you think?

I don't know why Atheists are so afraid of a simple baby in a manger.

The person complaining in't even from the community. The city itself did not remove it but the fire department did after receiving the letter. The city is looking at returning it.

What people like the person complaining needs to understand is that the constitution allows freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. The government can not establish a religion for the people to practice. The people can establish and practice the religion they believe in. Placing a creche on any land is not establishing a religion. No one is being told they HAVE to practice said religion.

What I don't 'get' about that decision on the part of a government is that there's no particular connection between Satan or Satanism and Christmas. So why would the Satanists be given equal treatment any more than if it had instead been vegetarians or some political organization demanding to put up their own display during this Holiday season?

I agree, other than to not be accused of promoting one over the other.
