Former President Donald Trump ate up alleged support from “Hannibal Lecter” in a terrifying slip-up at an Iowa rally.

The former president criticized open border policies on Saturday and claimed people were coming to America from “insane asylums” before bringing up “The Silence of the Lambs.”

“Hannibal Lecter, how great an actor was he?” said Trump in a mix-up between the fictional character’s name and Anthony Hopkins, the actor who played the cannibal in the 1991 film.

Hear Trump slip-up here

The pressure of the indictments, Melania re-negotiating her pre-nup, Trump on the verge of losing his properties, and the prospect of going to jail, is causing Trump to lose his grip on reality.

What are your thoughts?

It doesn't even come close to Biden's slip ups this entire year. LOL

First, Huffpost will exaggerate almost anything in order to jab the people that this publication doesn't like.

And Second, Hannibal Lecter is probably the character most associated in the popular mind with the actor Anthony Hopkins, even though Hopkins has starred in many other roles.

So....it is not certain that Trump actually mixed-up the names of the fictional character with that of the real actor.

If he'd said that he had been endorsed by Captain Kirk, I am certain that everyone listening would have been amused and understood that it was a casual reference to William Shatner who, like Anthony Hopkins, is probably better known that way to the average person than he is by his legal name.

What's such a big deal about something that could be as simple as a mis-speak? It's like when GWB talked of ending the death penalty when he meant death taxes, or Obama talking of 57 states.

The press gave Hillary a free pass when she talked of coming under mortar fire during a visit to a war zone when video footage subsequently showed her walking casually across an airstrip waving and smiling. Apparently she "misspoke". It's easily done - only the other day I thought I was coming under mortar fire at the local Walmart but it turned out to be some hillbilly's truck backfiring.

I'm sick of hearing about Trump and Biden both. They both need to retire and someone new needs to take over.

Most of our politicians need to retire and get all new ones into office.

I kind of sympathize with those sentiments, but then I am reminded that Trump has been a politician only since 2015. It was just his 'crime' to go immediately from private life to the presidency. But then we come to Biden who has almost never done anything except hold political office.

Trump was also rich prior to getting into office...how many politicians are now rich because they got into office?

Not only are they rich from having gotten into office, but Trump refused his salary as president and is now reportedly poorer than when he became president.
