June was "Pride Month" and here in the People's Republic of California, many schools and public buildings flew the PRIDE flag, usually under the American flag. But this was controversal in some cities (especially fairly conservative ones.)
A city near me had a LOT of people protesting to the City Council, insisting that that city NOT do that. The council debated it, and by a narrow vote, decided that the would fly that flag on all city buildings - and encourage the school district to do the same. T.he reason given is that the LGBTQ+ community was "significant in our city."
Well, now several groups are petitioning the city (and schools) to fly THEIR flag... all taking out permits and seeking City approval. Among them (so far) are:
The Christian flag
The Mexican flag (large Hispanic population in the city)
The National Rifle Association
The Facial Pain Awareness flag
The POW/MIA flag
Juneteenth flag
Domestic Violence Awareness flag
And stating they will be seeking approval, is the Pro Life and Catholic Church flags.
We'll see what the City does.... and of course, some of the above has stated they will take the City to court if they do not get their flag flown on all city buildings.
