If so, how do they work?

I don't believe they exist as a travelling circus show, as presented many times.

I do believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit exercised in the Church. And so I believe there are those who have the gift of healing.

I believe the majority of these who are popular are simply fakes.

I'd click on "agree" in reply except that I consider that statement to be overly polite, an understatement.

The number of 'possibly-genuine' faith healers is probably no more than the number of people who have received the stigmata or seen and heard the Virgin Mary. Most, in fact, of the people who are claimed as faith healers are people who simply prayed for another's recovery from some illness, which is of course not the same thing at all.

Don't they all do that, the normal ones I mean. Well pray or command the sickness to leave in Jesus' Name, but it's always backed up with prayer. The weird ones like Bill Johnson with the grave sucking I don't trust. Problem nowadays is that there are so many weird ones and they're all friends. I wouldn't advice someone who knows nothing about it to just go to whoever. Lot of New Age nonsense now. I also heard they just fake stuff like gold dust and angel feathers. That's even less bad if they just trick people for money. I am more concerned about the occult ones. We had a witch in Holland. People from the whole country went to her to get healed. She also used Jesus' Name. Afterwards they heard doors shut when there was noone home, ghost stuff. No wonder. She was just a witch.
Once I went to a church that often had guest speakers. Now they had a total weirdo. And those people were so dumb. They just fell for it. He only sang lalala. Nothing in his preaching about Jesus. Only nonsense. You could go back in time. His son hit a rock like Moses and water came out. He lost his sun glasses and caught a fish with the sun glasses on. Lay your hand on your face if you want to get rid of wrinkles. Crazy. I asked if they knew him on the charismatic part of christian forums and a pastor there said: oh we don't want him. That's why he goes to Holland.

I see you are 'charismatic'. So, how does faith healing work with your church? And what do you think and believe of it?

I believe in physical healing, though I've never experienced it. For many years, I have suffered as a result of illness, injury, and isolation. By reading something by A.W. Tozer, I've learned that the Lord sometimes uses this sort of thing to prepare a person for a certain purpose. This lines up with what I believe the Lord's been telling me since the 90s.
The following is a vision a guy named Bobby Connor had. I believe the Lord has a place in this move for me. I hope you don't mind me posting it. I guess I'll find out.
This prophetic experience came January 8, 1997. As the vision started, I saw a very intense white light. The light began to sweep over me, and a voice standing to my right side in the light said, "Look what is coming down the track and around the bend. It is God's Gold and Diamond Train."
Suddenly I saw the train tracks. One side of the track was named "Truth" and the other side was "Spirit." These tracks were coming around the bend of a mountain pass. I could see a very large cloud of what looked like dust and steam. I heard a loud sound as the huge locomotive came into view.
I was facing into the light on the front of the engine that was now so intense that it took a lot of effort just to face it. There was a great disturbance from the sight and sound of this great locomotive as it came closer. Through the dust and ashes I could barely see the name on the front of the engine. Across the top was written the word "Judgment" and on the bottom was written "Mercy."
As the train moved, the names would rotate so that at one time Judgment would be on the top and then it would reverse and Mercy would be on the top. As the train came closer, I saw that the cars were not filled with gold and diamonds as I had expected, but with coal. I was disappointed because I was told that I was going to see "God's Gold & Diamond Train."
Then the voice standing near my right side said, "YES! This is God's Gold Train." Then I heard the Lord Himself say, "This is My Goal Train." I then knew He was speaking of equipping and training. He then said, "There will be plenty of true diamonds and real gold after the heat and pressure that are coming."
I knew that He was speaking of refining. and the passage in Malachi 3 came into my heart, Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness (Malachi 3:1-3 KJV).
I was then told that the coming volcanic activity near Bend, Oregon, would announce the beginning of one of the greatest healing revivals in history. This healing revival will start around Hamilton, Ontario, and then blaze across Canada to Vancouver. From there it will turn down the Northwest Coast of the U.S. and cross the Pacific to the Far East.
I was then told to spell locomotive "local-motive." The Lord said that this local area in the Northwest was a seedbed of the healing anointing that was upon John G. Lake. The sign of volcanic activity around Bend, Oregon, is that the Lord is turning up the heat, but it will bring about a refining and purifying of His people so He can release healing in the earth in an unprecedented way.

He may heal me yet. Shalom.
