We're already seeing political commercials for the 2024 election in my area. How about you?

I avoid watching regular TV so political ads are one of the things I escape.

Unfortunately, yes. And that includes commercials for people who haven't yet declared as candidates! There is an awful lot of money being spent these days on the campaigns of individuals (as opposed to parties or causes), most notably for President of the U.S.

I try to stick to commercial free TV. Not only to avoid all the lies and manipulations but to keep my children from all the ads about bent carrots and the like (you know what I'm talking about).

Vote for me!

I'm not running for office but there are still people spending megabucks to promote my candidacy for, well, something or other. So remember my name when you step into the voting booth. When you don't find it on any of the ballots, figure something else out, I guess....

Maybe I'll run. At least one person has told me I should. I'd only need another 50 million or so people to agree with them.

That said given the 2016 election when Trump's primary attraction was Not Being Clinton and Clinton's primary attraction was Not Being Trump, perhaps the advantage of Not Being Clinton paired with the advantage of Not Being Trump would propel any other candidate to the finishing line. We can swap out whoever ends up with the nominations in 2024 just as well, I suspect.

I think that a lot of the attraction to Trump was that he wasn't a career politician. And that's still true! Those career politicians are in it for themselves and look at how much money they make while in office?

It's certainly curious just how many billions get spent to secure a job that pays, what, $400k per year?
