It's a shame that there apparently aren't enough obvious alternatives to two highly polarising figures, no?
Two non-polarizing figures who could win the election, that is. All of a sudden, a routine procedure--the presidential primaries and nominating conventions--are seen by the bosses of both parties as dangers to be minimized.

The Biden people didn't even trust their guy enough to read a script as usual but made a short film in order to take care of the announcement of candidacy instead. And Trump has more or less been conceded the R nomination by friend and foe alike.

Sure, despite my reservations about Trump I can put up with a few mean tweets if it means $2 gas again and less unchecked immigration, just for starters.

Two polarising figures, not non-polarising figures. With an s or a z, depending....

I wonder how many conceded the nomination to Trump because of fear of the vocal attacks. Sometimes it seems like the flip-side of worrying about what the woke mob will think of something.

Biden hiding in his basement seems pretty much par for the course. His standing for re-election is little more than a farce.

How you all feel about getting Trump vs Biden again in 2024?

I don't feel good about the election in 2024.

It's my opinion that there will never be a conservative Republican elected in the U.S. again. I don't believe the liberal Democrats will ever turn lose of the power they now have.

It's no longer a 'Trump or Conservative vs Biden' election. It's a 'Trump vs Biden/FBI/Media'.

And not only are the Democrats flooding the country with third world immigrants, adding to their voting power, but conservative white Christians are becoming less and less.

Conservatives and Christians may no longer have the numbers.

That is weird, that christians want no immigrants. I used to vote for a christian party in the Netherlands. There are 2. One is sweet for immigrants, but a bit too sweet, because they don't have to work and got houses, while they're scarse, so that irritated a lot of ppl who are used to being spoiled by the govt and getting a big fat cheap house and now all of a sudden they got them. That's the evangelical party. The reformed party is like: let them stay there. Not welcome. Which is scary. A woman from Valdres warned against this selfishness. It's the biggest sin, not being hospitable. Remember you were slaves in Egypt. Be kind to the stranger in your land.

4. "People from poor countries will stream to Europe. (In 1968 there was no such thing as immigration. E. Minos.) They will also come to Scandinavia - and Norway. There will be so many of them that people will begin to dislike them and become hard with them. They will be treated like the Jews before the Second World War. Then the full measure of our sins will have been reached (I protested at the issue of immigration. I did not understand it at the time. E. Minos.)

The tears streamed from the old woman’s eyes down her cheeks. "I will not see it, but you will. Then suddenly, Jesus will come and the Third World War breaks out. It will be a short war." (She saw it in the vision.)

"All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one, and it will be ended with a nuclear atom bomb. The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia and the wealthy nations. The water will be ruined (contaminated?). We can no longer till the soil. The result will be that only a remnant will remain. The remnant in the wealthy countries will try to flee to the poor countries, but they will be as hard on us as we were on them.

I haven't heard any Christians here say exactly that.

With a 250 million-strong Christian base, it’s a wonder that our country does not employ radical open-border policies.

One group of Christians in particular consistently misses the mark in viewing immigration policy through a Christian lens. A 2018 PRRI poll of more than 2,500 American adults concluded that 75% of white evangelical Protestant Republicans, the highest percentage of any Republican group, believe immigrants are invading American society.

And a PEW research poll also found that 68% of white evangelicals believe the United States does not have a responsibility to house refugees — a significantly higher percentage than the national average.

Oh wait. Evangelicals like Paula White. That's not even a christian.

Where did I say Christians want no immigrants? I do say immigration should be not be an open door policy.

And, I say the '1965 immigration act' insured that more people from 3rd world countries would immigrate to the U.S. As they have. Which is foolish. Why? Because America was established by white Europeans. Not by 3rd world countries. Which means what? It means it will take white Europeans to be able to handle and continue the maintenance of America. Not 3rd world peoples.

If you want to turn America over to 3rd world people, then you will have an America like you see in the Chicago wal-marts of late. How did you like those videos?

Read the book, "Americans No More" by Anne Gyer. And that was 1996.

White ppl want all the money and best places to live. Europe, Canada, Australia, America, all rich and free and almost everyone who lives in lousy poor circumstances wants to live there too. We also get annoying radical muslims here and lazy ppl, cause in Holland you get govt money if you don't want to work, but that's no reason to vote for the selfish nationalists who don't want to share and be hospitable. We may be judged on how we treat them. I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat. Matthew 25. I remember the book from Corrie ten Boom from before WWII. Her brother went to Germany. He said the Jews were blamed for everything. Now the immigrants are blamed for everything, at least in Holland. Can't find a house? Blame the immigrants. Only if they do the lousy low paid jobs they're welcome, but rather do that lousy work in your own country.

Hi, Messy. The source that provided a lot of that information in post #28 has long been rated as Left-wing almost universally, so it's not entirely surprising that what the outfit reported here on the alleged attitudes of American Christians seemed so incorrect. For a better understanding of how Vox and Vox Media operate, you might read the following:

And as for the first part of that post which came from RNS, the editorial slant represented the opinion of one writer. Religion News Service specifically stated that the opinions expressed were not those of RNS.

Of course white people want the wealth and the best places to live. Just like every other race does.

Oh, 'selfish nationalists' you say. What do you call those animals in Chicago that are destroying their city? Please answer.

You want to use (Matt. 25) for your whine song? Consider (Matt. 25:40). "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me." Who are the brethren here? They are the Jews. Not immigrants from 3rd world countries.

And what country in the world has been the best friend of the Jews in the last 100 years? Answer...it aint yours.

When immigration becomes an invasion, it is no longer immigration. And when a country allows the invasion of immigration, as the liberal Democrats have in the U.S., it is for the countries destruction.

Brethren are christians. Muslims that came to the Netherlands got saved here and became christian. Churches help them. The woman from Valdres warned. The O.T. warns. It's better to have an invasion than a bomb. And for instance Denmark, they want a neat rich white country, but now they all get old. Rich western ppl don't want loads of kids. They may need immigrants.

Isn't there a difference between accepting immigrants and allowing an "invasion"--which is to say an uncontrolled surge of unknown persons in unlimited numbers, including both genuine refugees and criminals or opportunists?

While there are numerous Bible references about being charitable towards other people, I cannot find a single verse that associates love and charity with helping to harm, steal from, or otherwise victimize one's neighbors.

Yes but how can you see who is who? They throw away their passports and creep in. Christian refugees get persecuted by them.

I disagree that 'brethren' in (Matt. 25:40) are Christians. I believe they are Jews. But, that is no matter.

Whether you believe they are Christian or Jews, they are not immigrants. Which means your attempt to use (Matt. 25) as some rule for a nations immigration policy, doesn't work.

They do sound like the least of His brothers and they're hungry and thirsty and the O.T. says you have to treat the stranger like your own people and be hospitable.

You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 10:19

The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:34

‘Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.’ Then all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
Deuteronomy 27:19

For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever.
Jeremiah 7:5-7

You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who reside among you and have begotten children among you. They shall be to you as citizens of Israel; with you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
Ezekiel 47:22

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.
Zechariah 7:9-10

You have heard that it was said, ‘you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy’. But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you.
Matthew 5:43-44

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
Matthew 25:35

Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren you did it to me.
Matthew 25:40

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.

Yes but how can you see who is who?
We used border patrol agents, reception and processing centers, even courts in order to screen prospective immigrants. At least until the Biden administration, that is. And it worked.

If the government of the Netherlands is loose concerning its borders, that probably does invite illegal immigration and some will get in without authorization; but we here on this forum were talking about the idea of an "invasion," not just immigration.

Those are all good verses....directed toward a nation of God, Israel. A 'theocracy'. Is your country a theocracy? The U.S. certainly isn't a theocracy.

I'm all for the U.S. , or any nation, to abide by the Old Testament doctrines. But they won't. The nations of the world cannot run their governments on the basis of Old or New Testament doctrines.

I have some good Old Testament verses I would like to ask you if we should follow them. Would you like to hear them? And, as far as the Sermon on the Mount, (Matt. 5), it is nothing but law...more stringent than the Mosaic Law."

This country (USA) accepts more legal immigrants than any other nation on Earth.
