An Ohio family is sharing a new warning about the viral Benadryl challenge on TikTok after their 13-year-old son died from an overdose trying to do it, the family said.

The dangerous stunt calls for people to take 12 to 14 pills of the over-the-counter drug in hopes of hallucinating.

But in Jacob Stevens case, he lost his life.

Where do you people find these challenges? I use TikTok when I'm bored. Not one of these dangerous challenges ever appears in my feed. I don't know how the TikTok algorithm works, but I it never seems to show me stuff I am searching for. It gives me local stuff, such as people lip-syncing and acting, dancing, the occasional psychology and holistic coach, some silly skits and a lot of religious videos.

Why are parents still allowing their kids to watch TikTok?

It's not all bad. You should know that there's a very large Christian community on TikTok. I've come across lots of young people (some probably in college or even high-school) who are on fire for The Lord and preach encouraging Christian messages in TikTok videos. Just look up the #ChristianTikTok hashtag.

In the same vein, should the parents of the dead child face charges for apparently failing to adequately secure medicines?

It's a great shame when kids try something stupid and pay the ultimate price. It's also a shame when the first question is whether some more or less random person should face charges.
