Americans across the board are feeling the adverse side effects of inflation, with many of them slumping deeper into debt as a result. To help see taxpayers through these tough times, some states are still providing stimulus relief in 2023.

Stimulus checks do little more than stoke inflation. In theory they help but in practise part of keeping prices under control is the destruction of demand. Demand isn't reduced if it's propped up by handing out extra money.

Stimulus checks only make inflation worse. The classic economic reason for inflation is "to many dollars chasing to few good". In other words, inflation is caused by either people having excess money to spend which increases demand for goods and services or production of goods and services dropping so that goods and services are in short supply. Both increase the prices of goods and services.

Giving people "stimulus check" will only increase the supply of money in the economy which causes more/longer inflation.

Unfortunately, politicians see "stimulus checks" as a way to temporarily offset the increase in the price of goods and services (and show that they are doing something), when in fact, they just make it worse in the long run.

And then there's that other relevant expression -- "Buy votes."

We don't have stimulus checks, but the poorest get 1300 a year to heat their house, cause it costed a fortune since Putin started the war. I didn't get it. My ex did, which is great, cause I had no cent and he ain't stingy. Then he just pays more for the kids.
