Montana schools would not be able to punish students who purposely misgender or deadname their transgender peers under a Republican-backed legislative proposal that opponents argue will increase bullying of children who are already struggling for acceptance.

Why should they be punished? I swear, America is in a sad state of affairs over this crap. Sheesh, properly referring to someone's real gender instead of their fantasy gender is nowhere near "bullying".

I am so glad I didn't grow up going to public school at this time in history where yet another mental illness is encouraged in children.

"Misgender"? Does that mean calling them by their real genders?

Freedom of speech, where you can say anything you like as long as if offends nobody, anywhere, now or at any time in the future.

I'm offended by people who get offended.

According to the link's article, "The proposal, co-sponsored by more than two dozen GOP lawmakers, would declare that it’s not discrimination to use a transgender classmate’s legal name or...birth gender. Schools would be prevented from adopting policies to punish students who do so."

In other words, schools would be prohibited from punishing students for speaking truthfully, even if other students would do differently or because the administrators have instructed them to lie.

I guess so. And IMO, punishing a kid or teacher, for that matter, for using the students real gender pronoun is absurd.
