Places like Iran apply these laws somewhat today and people see it is barbaric - considering these are modern times, and well many just see it as too harsh for any historical period. Well, some extreme Christian Nationalists might want to make the USA like Ancient Israel, and rightly, many secular people are scared.

The "secular people" have a lot less to be scared about than Christian people have to worry about at the hands of the secularists who are steadily crushing freedom of religion.

You gotta point. How would you compare, though, hypothetical stoning for adultery with a lot of cases being women simply escaping marriages that don't work with aborting babies?

About the same way as I've compared hypothetical threats from, for example, a miniscule group like the "Christian Nationalists," to real threats from opponents of anything that smacks of the Christian religion, from manger scenes to the placing of Bibles in motel rooms.

As a matter of fact, worrying about the former group strikes me as just another example of the latter group's campaign. If not, the alarm would be sounded about "Nationalists," not "Christian Nationalists." Yet, it's always those unnamed "Christian Nationalists" who are supposed to be a big threat to something or other.

While the opponents of Christianity are doing horrendous things like aborting live babies, well, the OT and stoning adulterers could be brought up, among other things.

In this society, I don't think we have too much to worry about when it comes to people stoning adulterers, but approximately one million babies were aborted last year.

O.K., that's a good point.

A study on the impact of the loss of a parent on the mental health of children revealed that children recover from the death of a parent far quicker than the loss of a parent via divorce. The statistical link between children of divorce and - suicide, poverty, crime, mental illness - is also well documented.

Adultery is not a victimless crime and it is not the guilty that suffer the penalty. I think the OT may have been more right than wrong in its ruling. God was no fool; He knew what He was doing.

Luckily now we can die with Christ. The woman who had 5 men started a revival in her town. Still it's insane how now the innocent one gets punished by law. One cheats and the other one may not see the kids and is forced to pay for the cheater to live luxurous in the house, having a bad influence on the kids and arranging a new parent for them. Stoning em to death is a bit much, but this is the other opposite.

Messy, I remember you from long ago. Glad to see you here. I love reading your point of view. So enlightening for those of us who have not had to go through such hard things. Your spirit is so sweet.
